I am so thankful that you left these Videos online even after you sold your business. I applied this procedure on my YM 1720D today and the tractor is running again !

Extremely helpful! I ordered some radiator hoses from you guys yesterday! Thought I'd watch other how to videos before I tackled the fuel filter. I'm good now!

Thank you so much for this. I wish I had watched it BEFORE I cleaned the filter. I thought the fuel pump would fill the sediment bowl but I was wrong and ran the tractor out of fuel. I had to bleed each injector twice, but this video saved me a service call which would have probably cost me in the neighborhood of $300. Great job posting this.

Good evening, I have the same fuel filter setup on the 2TNE68-DM4 Yanmar engine of my Minicar. Although this tutorial is very helpful for a "first time" filter changing approach, having change myself this filter several times in the past, I have to point out 2 details that in this video have been overlooked: #1- in order to stop the fuel from coming out of the assy, you only have to turn the valve lever of 90°. if you turn it up to the next 180° your valve will remain open to the opposite position! #2- inside my filter cup there is also a spring that seats on the bottom and pushes agaist the filter cartridge by preventing it to detach from its insert. Last but none the least, there is no need in changing the whole cup and accessories at any filter replacement: it is enough to clean the sludge deposit with a cloth and rinse the cup with new clean diesel before reassembling it back.

Thanks for video which was helpful as I changed a fuel filter on a Farmtrac 270 with a Daedong 3A139 engine (also found on Kioti and many other models) for the first time. In my setup, there is a spring that seats in the bottom of the fuel filter bowl. Its function is to ensure that the filter doesn't slip down off of the barb inside the fuel filter valve assembly. Fortunately for me I was paying close attention when I disposed of the microbe ridden fuel from the bowl. My bowl isn't transparent and I didn't expect to find a spring in there. Finally, you didn't mention lubricating the O-ring. I lubed mine with some petroleum jelly. Others recommend using a finger swipe of clean motor oil or simply the clean diesel fuel itself. Thanks again.

You only need to turn the shut-off valve 90 degrees to stop the flow of fuel. By turning it 180 you left it open.

Is bleeding the injector lines also needed when replacing the filter, or only when you run out of fuel?

Thank you so much for these tips. The fuel filter shut off valve on my JD 2305 tractor doesn't work. I hate it when the fuel leaks all over. It gets me so upset. Now, I know what to do. Thank you.

On most water separators (i.e. Yanmar) there is a lock screw on top of the shut off valve. Loosening the screw allows the vale to work as it should. My sc2450 is 12 years old and I've never had a 'sticky' problem with the valve. Thus the lock screw is in place to compensate for vibration of the tractor and prevent the valve opening..."Ya think"!?!

Did all of that. Now can't get any fuel. Thinking internal shutoff stuck closed. It was a little difficult to close then open . Now it turns a little easier. Think it broke in closed position.

You open the valve turning it like that. Thats why fuel is still coming out. Turn it a quarter turn. Like a ball valve.
@coypatton31606 жыл бұрын
chris debruyn that was my thoughts also. A 90 degree turn shut off the fuel. Also consider a fuel line shut off valve if you ever replace the fuel lines.
@HoyeTractor6 жыл бұрын
The valves are 1/2 turn valves. 180 degrees. The handle straight down is open. The handle straight up is closed. www.hoyetractor.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/ffv.jpg

@britneyengland79235 жыл бұрын
If you would have loosened the small Phillips screw that's on top of the fuel shut off valve it will turn free. Also, you need to turn the lever a quarter turn, not 180.
@HoyeTractor5 жыл бұрын
You are not correct on either suggestion. The valves are half-turn valves. 180 degrees. The handle straight down is open. The handle straight up is closed. See link below directly from Yanmar's manual. Loosening the screw will allow you to remove the handle but will not do anything to free the stuck valve inside. www.hoyetractor.com/mm5/graphics/00000001/ffv.jpg
