This is the best understanding and rendition of Chinese music I have ever heard from a foreigner. I remember when this concert happened in Beijing. He is one of the first foreign artists allowed to perform in China. My family lived within walking distance from this palace at that time, but we couldn't afford the tickets, so my mom took me to the closest spot outside of the palace wall. I can still remember that night now. It was simply magical. I used to replay this song again and again when I read old Chinese novels. This is a time-travel machine. Amazing. Thank you Mr.Yanni.

Yanni's piano skills are truly remarkable, and the addition of the hauntingly beautiful flute and strings makes this a masterpiece. Thank you, Yanni, for creating such a sublime work of art that continues to resonate with listeners decades later. Although I have since left China, I still vividly remember my junior high school music class, where the teacher introduced us to Yanni's music group and showed us the video for "Nightingale." While I may not recall most of my junior high school courses, the emotional impact of that song has stayed with me. It is truly beautiful! Music has the power to transcend national boundaries, and I believe that Yanni's music has left a deep impression on countless people in China.

Just very randomly the name of the artist Yanni was brought up in my memory recently. I'm from China. I remember when I was a child we had Yanni's CDs at home, but I had no idea that he has had this magnificent concert right in the Forbidden City. I don't know if any other Western musician has ever had the same privilege like that? Not even Chinese artists, and such things almost certainly will never happen again. Really makes me yearn for the good old days when the world was a more open and tolerant place. Thank you for bringing your wonderful and inspiring music to China, Yanni!

I listen Nighteagle for the first time from radio when i was a kid from a small city in 90s China, and at that time I didn't know how to use a PC to search what this song was, or I couldn't even understandwhat English word “Nighteagle ” means (At that time i dont know the name of this song). Then I study hard, while this song always playing in my brain, I asked almost everyone, but they all don't know. This song accompanied me during my puberty, even when i cant hear that from radios or TV, it still played again and again in my mind, in every cool summer night. Then in 2011 I went to college, and one day my roomate played this song. I finally know the name, know about yanni, know about the beautiful background story and this wonderful concert. I bursted into tears at that time, cuz this gives me a beautiful and long long memory. That means a lot to me. Thank you, Yanni.

It's totally the same bro, when I was a high school student, I heard about this song for first time at our music class. Starting from that time, I fell in love with his songs and I listen to them almost every week, every year. I came to US for master's degree, one day I knew that Yanni would hold a conversation concert in Pitts, I bought the ticket without any hesitation, and I got the microphone to talk with Yanni. I said quite a lot, and even shook hand with him, I consider that moment one of the most unforgettable moments in my life, and he's also a person who makes really big difference to my life.

As a Chinese, almost twenty years ago, my mother bought the vcd of this concert. it is so amazing to see some foreigners playing in Chinese palace with such an extraordinary, western music, but the rhythm is so familiar, and I remember the scene ever after. Now I am in Canada, luckily found this video. More fantastic, I noticed tube player is Pedro Eustache, I saw his concert with Hanz Gimmer this year! This music bring me the good year I have in China and also the era when Chinese government try to embrace the world not to fight against it. God, how wonderful and imaginary 90s is, but as a Chinese you have to choose, choose to abandon most of western value or leave China mainland or fight against it for decades. In short, music is magic and it is the reminder of how wonderful life used to be and will be~!

Best wishes from India।

Yanni, I couldn’t sleep tonight. I came across this again in my notifications, so I decided to just give it another listen. That wasn’t a difficult decision, this is one of my absolute favorite songs. I hit play, and it immediately grabbed me by the chest, in my heart with emotion. Once again, it took me on a journey, always on the back of the Nightingale, as if I was secured in a saddle, I seated as the saddle were placed on her shoulders, betwixt her wings. She took me over Ha Long Bay, Vietnam Nam, over the Lime Stone Mountains, soaring over the magnificent heights, I, peering over to each side of her wings and beholding the beauty of the flora, beneath me. Not only was I taking in the beauty of the flowers, greenery, mountains, and waters, but I was watching the most beautiful, sight, of the dance of life on the waters below me, as I flew on the back of your Nightingale. My eyes were filled by the beautiful, lyrical dance and rhythm that the people in their boats created as they went about their daily lives of living on those waters, selling their wares, commuting from one place to another, searching the Bounty of the Bay for the Food it brings forth, all, these activities, occurring on the surface below me, from from one part of the Bay to another. Your Nightingale flew low, low enough for me to almost touch the tips of the branches, and flew high into the clouds, so I could see the green and blue tapestry of life below me, from my seat between her intricately and perfectly created feathered wings. As I was with your Nightingale, riding her on this musical journey, and the visual, auditory beauty I see and hear, the emotions and feelings that conjure up are so overflowing, the tears come to the surface, and well into a heartfelt cry. It is not a cry of despair or sadness, but tears of pure release, surrender, wanting, knowing, yearning, loving, desiring, giving. Alas, tears of an all encompassing manifestation of Feeling the pureness and beauty of your Nightingale. My heart swells with the most earnest and purest form of imagination and appreciation each time I hear it, and each and every time I do, tears fall. Thank you for creating music, that stirs my heart to tears! ‘I love you #Yanni. Your Artist Friend, Julia Dufault McGrath, Julia’s Watercolors, LLC

I have every album he ever recorded since the beginning on cassette tape and they still sound incredible. His music has been used on so many TV show documentaries, nature shows, dance and skating routines and more. It is absolutely timeless. I truly believe that God Himself just stops to listen to Yanni's incredible music.

Met this song towards the end of my university days. Those times were frustrating and depression held me down... sincerely this song played a major role at catapulting me to the reality of life sweetness even in down moments which doesn't last forever. A million thanks to Yanni.

This song is absolutely beautiful. I remember one night as a kid I woke up with a stomach cramp and it kept hurting so bad and I couldn’t sleep. So I turned on this song and let it play to keep my mind off the pain until it went away and I could sleep again. It was just such a soothing song for me at that time and I just now randomly remembered how beautiful it was so I had to come back and listen it.

About maybe 15 years ago, I saw Yanni on a PBS featuring a concert show on a location. I fell in love with the music, with Yanni and his ability to create like no other. I was blown and went to go find where to get his CD's, yep CD's were in then. To this day I am still so in love with his music. I did get to see a small concert of his when he came into town. I wish I had been able to attend "Yanni Voices!" I had to buy that CD also. I have so many of his music. Now you can just get it on any music platform.

Me too, the first time I listened to this, I was a 7, 8-year-old boy, it randomly played by my mother's speaker with a small micro SD card, it only had like 10 songs in it, but this one was just so different from other Chinese pop songs, so stunning and wonderful, so it got me right away and always attracted me to listen again, the final chorus 06:05 always feel like a beautiful creature (can be a bird, can be a dragon, it's in my imagination, but yes! I didn't know the song name is 'Nightingale'!) drop down a great waterfall and fly high through the clouds. 🥹 I asked my mom, and she said she got those music from a barbershop😂, but the barbershop has moved, so I never had a chance to know the song name. I finally found it back and got here, it's like a treasure to me, so much inspiration and love I got from this. Thank you, maestro Yanni.
