Yao’s career is like the trial of a meteor, when it just started reaching towards his prime, major injuries came one after another. The Chinese basketball association has play a large part of the responsibility, calling him back to play those tournaments every summer, and put him on the court for ridiculous minutes, this is too much for a big man over 7,5 and 310 pound, that’s why he never get to fully recover from those injuries and had to retire at such a good age

Yao was overly used by both nba and team China. He used to travel between USA and China every year during his career seasons. He actually only played in nba for six full seasons then he was DONE.

Yao would've had a longer career if he played in today's NBA and still have been dominant. While Hakeem Olajuwon could pop out for the occasional 15-foot jump shot, Yao would hit those 20-foot jump shots reliably. If he had been taught and practiced to hit 3-pointers he could've adapted to that easily. His shooting touch was just that good. People forget that in his skinny Rookie year, Yao was a lot more mobile offensively and had a more loose creative playing style, with face-up drives to the basket from the corner, slap passes from the top of the key and behind the back passes (which he still did a little bit of later on) from the post. He was beefed up and turned into a more traditional banging low-post center because that's what was still believed to be the best thing to do with big men in his era.

Yes but Wadlow had a tumor on the pituitary gland. He was also 8'11" and was still growing at time of death. Wadlow couldnt walk. Yao is 7'7" and swatted Shaq. Big difference.

If Jokic and Gobert can play, Yao Ming can play. He wasn't like Tacko Fall or Boban. He would still be successful in this era because he would be faster without adding all the weight back then, and also he is a shooting big. The end of his career was literally just injury. He was heavier than he should to deal with the physicality of that era, and he was not allowed to rest his legs because he was playing with China in Summer. After like 6 seasons his knees broke.
