The old man and I have been detecting for a few years now and haven’t been able to find any old property or places to detect. Its really cool to find items that were used in wars from hundreds of years ago. And ther still in one pice. I seen on TV, they find dog tags, uniforms with names on them.

1200 varieties of bullets were used during the Civil War. If you find a 'dropped' Enfield. Look into the base/cavity for a letter or number that will ID the armory that made it. Both Union and Confederates used the Enfield. Come see one of the BEST civil war reenactments still around the 3rd w/e of May, in Resaca, GA. You WILL see exactly how troops loaded, fired, marched, camped, fought, etc...I've been a reenactor and relic hunter for 30 yrs. The Battle of Resaca reenactment is the best one still around these days.

That first bullet was more than likely a union bullet due to the triple bands around the circumference. Old confederate bullets had on maybe two bands around them. Awesome finds!!!

When i was a child i lived at the base of Kennesaw Mountain. I was born in Marietta Georgia. Those were everywhere.

My 1st cousin five times removed fought in that battle at Kennesaw Mountain for the Union (Company K, 38th Indiana volunteers). He survived many battles, but on July 14, 1864 his luck ran out though when a huge storm came through north Atlanta and a tree fell on the tent he was resting in, killing him instantly.
