As salamu alaikum can you please do a series where you explain each Surah in the Quran in layman’s terms? I find it hard to understand the translation and sometimes I don’t know what stories are being referred to. Kinda of like Quran for dummies lol. I know that would take a long time, but I feel like it would be great for young children too, to understand what each surah is about and why it was revealed. To know what each verse means in today’s English, all compiled in one place like a series.

All praise is due to Allaah, this is a matter of difference of opinion but the correct statement is that it is not permissible for the women to visit the graves and that is because the Prophet [sallallahu alayhi wa salam] cursed those women who visit the graves. Imaam Ahmad narrated this in his Musnad (2/337) and at-Tirmidhee narrated it in his Sunnan (4/12) and Ibn Maajah narrated it in his Sunnan (1/502). All of them narrated from the hadeeth of Aboo Hurayrah (radhia Allaahu anhu). And in another narration " cursed are those women who visit the graves" Imaam Ahmad narrated it in his Musnad (1/229) Aboo Daawod narrated it in his Sunnan (3/216) and at-Tirmidhee narrated it in his Sunnan (2/4) and Nasaa'ee narrated it in his Sunnan (4/94-95) all of them from the hadeeth of Abdullaah Bin Abbaas (radhia Allaahu anhumaa) And the curse does not come about except in a matter that is forbidden and major in its prohibition but rather a major sin from amongst the greatest sins and that is because the general rule in the Major Sins is that when the consequence [of a sin] is a curse or the anger [of Allaah] or the fire or a severe threat or a punishment in this world [then it is a major sin]. So the Prophet (sallallaahu alayhi wa salam) cursed those women who visit the graves, [which] indicates that visitation of the graves by women is a major sin from amongst the major sins. So it is because of this hadeeth specifying the statement of the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa salam) "visit the graves because it is a reminder for you of the Akheerah" [the expression found in Muslim (2/671) "so visit the graves because it is a reminder for you of death" from the hadeeth of Aboo Hurayrah and look in the Sunnan of at-Tirmidhee (4/9) from the hadeeth of Buraydah (radhia Allaahu anhu). So this hadeeth is specific to men evidenced by the hadeeth "Allaah's curse be upon the women who visit the graves" and that is the correct statement upon which it is mandatory for the Muslimaat to traverse upon and that is because the women are weak and it is feared that she may express her mourning with Niyaahah [wailing] at the graves when she sees the grave of her husband or her brother or her close relatives that she will not be able to be patient and that she expresses her mourning by Niyaahah [wailing] and that is because the woman is Auwrah [that which should not be seen] and it is feared that when she goes out to the graveyards, and you all know even to the extent of the masjid, which is the place of Ibaadah that it is best for the woman to not go to it [i.e the masjid] and pray in her house. How much more the graveyards and the fear upon her is more severe? So the end result is that the truth is with the one who says: it is not permissible for the women to visit the graves. [this is a translation of the post above submitted by akhunaa mahmoud (hafidhahullah)the original fatwa is by Sheikh Saalih al-Fawzaan [hafidhahullaah] and translated into English by myself]
