Great talk! Jazakumullahu khairan! Focus groups may work in some cases I think, but maybe there is something in the idea of an online forum too. Where you are not asked to show your own name, nor switch on the camera. With Islamic scholars/teachers answering questions and providing support. Where you can get the help you need but not have to surmount the pressure of admitting the struggle or sin publicly. I've heard of incidents from people I know where online forums have helped them with other issues that feel embarrassing to discuss in a group setting

That technique of releasing energy on something like breathing and push ups that release is called sexual transmutation where we use that sexual energy in other energy centers to boost them...

We have removed Netflix and just stayed on Disney. It's the safest among everything. We dont know anything about games of thrones, squidgames and all those viral shows. We feel that we are not missing out on anything. We also educate our kids on what is important. All these are just fluffs. That will not add any substance to our lives.

Yeah why are we not mentioning the fact that most TV serials today include foul language, women are not in hijab and concepts that are haram such as dating whether or not there’s a sex scene, we should abstain from watching these things as it may take us away from our deen and we cannot treat them lightly just because they seem like no big deal and a part of every day life in Western society. I think this speaker did a bad job and minimised this as well as ignoring certain relevant Hadiths to the topic.

The guest asserted that people will remember or visualise pornographic images when/while praying, he went on to say imagine if people visualise porn on 27th Ramadan, on Lailatul Qader . . . I think that assertion was counter productive and had elements of negative reinforcement in it. There was no need for that assertion or assumption. Even if some of his clients had reported that. In my opinion it is a serious mistake on the part of the guest. Also I do not agree with offenders e.g. porn addicts attending group confession because talking about one's sin in public/a group de-sensities people. Feeling of guilt is necessary for repentance. Normalising sin by talking about it in groups, regardless of the assumed, benefits for individual/addict causes much more harm to society as a whole. I am not sure if the guest was talking psychology or "Islamic psychology" . But what I am sure is that he was contradicting Islamic teachings.

I think he was talking from the perspective that it's already a big deal in someone's life and interrupts other aspects of their life, worst of all their worship of Allah. I think it's true. If you go on any online circle of people trying to get rid of this disease, you'll see these points many times because the intrusive-ness of this sin is possibly it's biggest danger. I doubt he was saying we should flaunt our sin and make it normal to talk about in everyday life, but if someone is already stuck and can't win this fight alone, then speaking about it is crucial for proper help IN THE CONTEXT THAT THEY'RE TRYING TO GET RID OF IT not encouraging it.

@@ibrahimjamal8842 you say I doubt. . . If in doubt leave it out. Deen is in Yaqeen. Please watch the video again. As a psychologist he could have, at least consider how subliminal messages and subconscious mind work; especially when you say to the viewers " Imagine such and such action or visualise such and such action at such and such time". I prefer the way sister Najwa and sister Sarah talk about psychology in the light of Islam. . .

Community is an important dimension of healing and accountability. Some of the most successful addiction sobriety programs (eg 12-step, Alcoholics Anonymous, etc) use community and sponsors as a vital dimension of beating addiction. Hiding in the shadows and struggling alone is defeating. Being able to engage with professionals and others struggling in an honest and environment can be a truly transformative experience, InshaAllah.

@@bootsmade4walking just because many pros or people doing something, does not make that method or action right (according to Qur'an and Hadith) as evidenced by many verses of the Qur'an. Secondly if these methods were so successful Muslims would have not been the biggest consumers of pornography in the world. . . I am or shall I say Islam is more concerned about prevention of sin in a society. Majority of verses of the Qur'an warns us not to commit sin or not to get close to sin. . .. Why? Because Islam is more concerned with prevention of sins. . in societies. Yaqee Institute despite having good scholars has got this one wrong. Our straight line (path) is Qur'an and Hadith and anything deviating from that is crooked; be it Darwinian or Freudian theories. . .

If there are s*x scenes and you watch it casually then eventually you might feel it is 'no big deal' and then that will lead down a slippery slope. That is why we are advised to lower our gaze for it all! Alhamdullilah for our deen of logic.

I know that when you watching TV you are allowing saytan to your house. But I was thinking that the topic of this podcast is way worst than watching TV. Something like a secret sins which are not publicly done. As we are watching serials with family member using our quality time. Beyond that I am trying to make any excuse to defending myself but need more clarification regarding issue.
