Yarn over (Portuguese knitting style)

If you should come across a pattern that says "p, yo, k," then for the yarn over after the purl stitch just don't lift the working yarn above the right-hand needle to do the knit stitch. Leaving the working yarn in the "purl position" will automatically create a yarn over.
If you should come across a pattern that says "k, yo, p," then after the knit stitch bring the working yarn down under the right-hand needle and keep going one more time counterclockwise around the right-hand needle. So it's almost like you're doing one and a half turns around the right-hand needle.
