I live in Israel. We don't have stores like Joanne's or Michael or Walmart so all of the yarn I get is full price never on sale. Online I can find deals at times but then I pay big time on shipping! God bless America! You guys are lucky!

This is my favorite yarn box ever! I like ombré, self striping, cotton, alpaca and wool but I often can’t afford them. I like your yarn comparisons. I’m a relatively new crocheter, so I appreciate tutorialdemonstrations with thick yarn, even rope if it’s a complicated new stitch. I like shawls rather than ponchos. I hope I get lucky and win the yarn lottery...thank you so much for your generosity!

I scored a huge bag of yarn at the local Goodwill yesterday. For $15, I got at least 20 full skeins of yarn (all packed in a large zippered storage bag), including 7 of Hobby Lobby's I Love This Yarn, 6 Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton, 5 or 6 Yarn Bee Sweet Delight, and 1 each Red Heart with Love, Plymouth Encore Worsted and Plymouth Encore DK. No more than half the price I would have paid for that much yarn at Hobby Lobby's summer clearance, and all useable in some project or other, so I'm pretty happy about the find. (There were also a few Caron One Pounders at Goodwill yesterday, but I left those for someone else to nab.)

Thanks as always for sharing your shopping trip with us! Today is my birthday so I took the day off! My family is up visiting from Florida so all of my kids and grandkids have been over the last few days. This has been so nice to relax in the quiet and watch you shop. I will say that after putting most of my yarns in 14 containers are dragging them downstairs out of my guest room and organizing my high quality animal fiber yarns and projects I’m taking a break from buying anymore except for my birthday lol! OMG Joann associates are notoriously inept. I thought it was just MY Joanns ... LOL! They are stingy with their coupons AND if you are using a bunch of coupons (I have every family member get coupons at the house) they rip up the coupon after they scan it ... only to total the order and say 3 of my coupons didn't work ... BUT I couldn't look at the coupons because they were ripped to shreds. I am SO HAPPY that you spoke to a manager. One of the associates told me that they could get fired, if they told customers about coupons. Ugh. I am VERY proud of you :) You are a yarn warrior LOL

I am having a love on cupcake yarn right now. I like to put 2 or 3 of them that have somewhat coordinating colours and pull and chop areas out to make make my own combination of colour for large lap granny square blankets. It is so much fun, and the yarn feesl so good in your hands. The two that are neutrals I have a few on hand to intermingle with the brighter ones and they look fantastic when done. I watch You Tube or TV in the evenings and can make a couple of lap blankets a week for the senior centre.
