I love being an Artist because it make you really look and see. When I was into color pencils I did a still life of a basket of apples. I choose yellow as the first layer of color and layered the darker colors over it. It was my first serious composition and I wanted to get it right. I never realized how many colors were in an apple. Of course I was rendering red apples but as I looked closer I saw browns, oranges, purple, green, white flecks, every color. I then realized I never really saw an apple as it truly was, I just assumed I saw. You will never see things in one dimension ever again after having to recreate it. It floored me. A simple apple taught me this lesson.

Thank you so much. İ knew my paintings are not looking so attractive because of the colour palette, i knew it was about its colors but i didn't know how to fix it and get the true colors. That video really helped me.

I'm no pro, but I check my values by taking a picture with my phone and use the editing feature to change the painting to black and white/gray scale. I've found it very helpful. Otherwise I don't have an eye for values.
