@@wut1727 nooby? This "hiding in the bay" laid the foundation for the fleet in being concept, in a way of efficiency the british home fleet couldn't even begin to dream of. The amount of ressources spent on having to protect every single convoy in the vast operational area of Tirpitz simply because she COULD leave port and engage - on top of the ludicrous amounts of man and material spent and lost in trying to sink her in the well protected Fjord massively outmatch even the Bismarcks achievements. In a way, the Tirpitz was one of the few german ships that actually made up for her construction costs. Don't judge hastily simply because your only definition of military success is going into the fight frontally with all guns blazing.

@@tedmulthauf7434The rescuers would be from the outside, through the bottom of the hull. How would that consume the oxygen needed by the trapped crewmen? I’d think the greater danger would be loss of air pressure and increased flooding once the rescuers made that initial torch cut, they’d need to finish the rest of the cut fairly quickly in some cases before the men drowned, assuming they weren’t in a perfectly watertight compartment. Some of the trapped men at Pearl Harbor survived for over a week, what a horrible way to go.

He succeeded Leonard Cheshire as commander of the famous 617 Squadron and with six gallantry decorations to his name, remains one of the most distinguished airmen in the history of the nations of the British Commonwealth.

He probably should have been awarded a Victoria Cross but politics got in the way. To be honest 617 squadron seemed to have way more than its fair share of legendary pilots and aircrew. I didn't dislike it, but this one is somewhat meh in information presented. For example it is mentioned that previous bomb hits before relocation to Tromso hit rudder and caused minor flooding, when in fact bow was hit and the explosion deformed it in such a way that Tirpitz could not sail faster than 7-8 knots. This is why it was relocated to Tromso as a shore battery. Video mentions crew reduction but never says why (most of the crew involved in sailing was transferred elsewhere as they were no longer needed on a shore battery). There was also no smokescreen, and the fighters scrambled in time, but due to some communications problems, they flew somewhere else. There were even court martials for it.

5:16 a small correction, Tirpitz never carried 16 inch guns and if she did that wouldn't be a secondary battery like in the video, but the main gun. She had 8 15 inch guns for the main battery. And I wish she didn't turn upside down in 3 seconds in the animation, I believe slowly turning more and more for a few minutes would do it better, but otherwise great work as always!

The video is a few miniutes I don’t think they have enough things to say while it’s going down it would be boring if they extended it
@igameidoresearchtoo65113 жыл бұрын
Yarnhub animations are made to be quick, informative and eye catching, they aren't able to make the animations run slower while maintaining the 3 things they focus on.
@akane.sakurada3 жыл бұрын
@@mynose4540 they don't need to extend it. From the moment the bomb explodes in the animation to the 3 second absurd 180 degree turn there are one and a half minutes of the ship standing in the same angle. From the listing it's like ~45 seconds, taking advantage of those could be enough even.

Hell yeah! Not an upload missed! Also, this upload must’ve missed a day, since here in the Phil, Yarnhub usually premiere ever 7PM on a Wednesday, but, I always expect a good one, nonetheless! And they did! They’ve gone better! And that’s saying much since I came from the “Messerschmitt spared a BF-109” video nearly a year ago! You guys have grown so much!

Due to inter-service rivalry, the Navy claimed that the Tirpitz was not sunk, as her hull was above the water. The water being too shallow to allow the ship to sink beneath the waves

Bismarck did not get bombed. Torpedoes work differently, and are smaller. And the difference between a Lancaster and a Swordfish is quite large as well.

At the site of its sinking, a piece of its armor still stands as a memorial. And on the shipyard where Bismarck was made, a piece also remains, maybe one section made surplus? So bits do remain.
