Great work guys, it's always wonderful to see people getting to do something they're passionate about. As a 67 year old (been doing this sort of thing since the 1970's) and still have a passion and love for my 35mm film camera (Nikon F2AS), and it's still shoots as well as the day I bought it.. Many years ago, I decided to buy a P-n-S camera and reduced to the Nikon 35Ti or Contax T2. I bought both, about $400 each, and ran lens tests and did general use for a few rolls. The lens differences were small, but the Nikon is a bit sharper in the image center at best aperture, while the sharpness of the T2 covers more of the image area. I use Nikon generally and prefer the matrix metering of the 35Ti, but the image differences were not significant. The Nikon has a huge selection of user adjustments lacking in the T2, but they are buried in a menu system which is practically useless. The multi-dial analog display in the 35Ti is cute, but the readouts are too small, almost unreadable for older eyes, so fairly useless. The used controls on the 35Ti are accessed through tiny buttons which are fairly hard to use practically, a negative. I kept the T2 and resold the 35Ti because the T2 has easy to use controls sufficient for the tasks required (including an easy manual focus lacking in the Nikon) and lacks the hassle of the Nikon.

Video @ 22:02 - "the Cadillac of P&S's" - Well, where most point & shoots have their little 'ticking-time-bombs', is in the lens tucking The lens connections become severed via the use of flexible printed circuits. With enough 'Paperclip Bending', those connections become open (break). Better to own the non moving lens models. The Yashica T3 is fixed and has a FASTER Zeiss optic (f/2.8) than the more fragile & expensive T4 ! - Also, when the age weaknesses are corrected (hardened), the Nikon L35AW point & shoot IS THE BEST value with special features for the advanced amateur. - Its TACK Sharp lens ! It's weatherized, has AF choice visible inside the VF, true manual focus, YOU control manual flash and the film leader is left out when rewound ! - For B&W DIY developers, this last feature is the bomb BTW, I own all the premium AF P&S's : Leica Minilux, Contax T2, T3, Nikon 35Ti, Yashica T3 etc. - But that Nikon is unquestionably my favorite...

@@7evive - Yes, the Nikon Action Touch (L35AW) has a METAL battery cap (a Major weakness of the L35AF; plastic one!). The L35AW offers to the photographer MANUAL focus and MANUAL Flash On-Off (the L35AF offers neither). The body of the L35AW feels like a tank with a 3mm thick clear front lens cover glass & full weatherization (having 13 rubber gasket seals & with their current age, I wouldn't recommend underwater use). - The Key consideration when buying one is (Of course most don't function & will certainly break if not "HARDENED"; but that's OKAY !) DON'T buy one that has ANY SIGN of battery leakage ! ! ! - Because, if you see just a little bit on any plastic covers or metal battery contacts etc., rest assured the INTERNAL damage will be extensive & VERY DIFFICULT to remedy/Harden/CLA...

@@Hackzyyz I´ve owned both. If price is not an issue, definetly the 35ti, super sharp lens and amazing metering - mine has never misread a scene, and every exposure has been perfect. The 35ti also has exposure compensation, and is just way more satisfying to use than the t4. The t4 is very cheeply built and the autofocus is less reliable, but the lens is way sharper than for example an olympus mju-ii, and has a very beautiful way of rendering color and space. I bought my yashica t4 for 350 usd and sold it for 425 usd, and bought my 35ti for 500 usd, which i still use almost every day.

Does anyone know where I can find the FULL manual for the T4?? Got mine and it didn't come with a manual. I'm not sure what the flash modes mean -or when to use them. Only manual I found only explained 2 and not the rest. Not sure how to turn the flash off either.

its basically Automatic flash mode, redeye reduction, on-demand flash mode, night-scene (no flash) mode, and infinity lock for shooting landscapes and so on. Theres no manual online i think ,beside this repair pdf of the slim T which is basically the same as the normal T4. I really don't get the point of point and shoot film cameras these days. They were not designed to create great quality pictures, they were made to enable having a camera with you under the restrictions of necessary film use in the days before digital, which can be used at once and easily without a lot of preparations. They were made to easily document every day life, not to create great pictures or even art. All of this a modern digital camera can do much better with much less cost. If you want to do film, use medium or large format. That's where film shines. The process to take pictures with those cameras is - compared to digital cameras - as different as the medium used to catch the picture. 35mm cameras - and especially point and shoots - have only disadvantages compared to digital cameras, and that without the ability to produce better oder nicer pictures - especially since many digital cameras and the accompanying software can nearly perfectly emulate nearly every 35mm film ever made.

i get you - but - its about being tired of digital things, its because being tired of perfectly shining photos, its about the characteristics of film that can't be reproduced digitally, film still feels and looks different and will always. Its much nicer sometimes to not look on a screen and having every option to choose from. The mystery of how the film turns out and so on and not being able to see the picture right away which is so boring btw. But yea thats basically the same discussion with buying records and not buying the music digitally or CDs. humans and robots. bla bla bla
