The US is massive. I mean the distance from seattle to Miami is longer than the distance from London to Baghdad. Europeans love to trash on Americans for never going anywhere, but when to cross two MASSIVE oceans to go anywhere else which costs significant sums of money then to only go to places in Europe that is also still very pricey compared to let's say much of SouthEast Asia, South America or Africa, it is a huge deterrent to travel to let's say much of Europe. After all, the equivalent to travel from let's say London to Rome would be pretty much almost the distance from Seattle to Denver, and you won't make it all the way to Denver either, so you won't even cross a third of the country at all. That's the thing man, Americans would LOVE to travel, but when it comes to price, convenience of not having to have a passport AND the US is still very varied, it's just easier to stay in the USA.

You are correct... there is so much to see in the US that many people simply never make it overseas. And, the average annual US vacation time of two weeks (vs up to a month in Europe) adds to the complexity; why spend 4 days round-trip travel time when you can go somewhere in the US within a few hours? Most people understand the importance of immersing oneself in a completely different overseas culture, and would love to do so, but the cost and required time is often impractical once you're a grown-up with a job.

Just last week I was accused of not owning a passport which I do. Took a trip to the Bahama's last summer. 🥰 I'm not a fan of flying and I too was a lot older (40+) when I took my first flight. Anyway, sir you are correct, we don't need to leave our country because there's so much to do and see right in our own backyard. And because if its size we need not only money, but time and planning to see much of it so many of us fly a lot. We don't have that luxury to just jump on a subway/train or go by car and be in another state in under an hour two unless you're near the board of a one. As an example: I'm in PA and to go from my state to NY by car would take about 7 hours. 18 hours to Miami, Fl, to LA 1 day and 10 hours and so on. We are massive. 😊

The Hot Springs they showed in this video are not the kind you can soak in, if you like having skin. We don't generally travel abroad a lot because there is so much in the US to do and see. Unless you want to see a specific landmark, there is really no reason for the long, expensive flights, converting currencies, using travel adapters, or even having a passport. We literally have every climate, every landscape, and virtually every culture within the US that you can find around the world. We also get on average half the vacation or holiday time off than Europeans get on average, and very often it's not worth the hassle of going abroad unless you can go for at least two weeks. So Europeans have twice as much opportunity to travel to other countries than Americans do. Other than Canada and Mexico, we can't drive to another country in any reasonable amount of time like Europeans can. I don't think many Europeans grasp the sheer size of the US. You can drive from the left side of Great Britain to the right side in about 10 hours, or one day if you're ambitious. If i did the same in the US it would take about 40hrs., or 4-6 days That's the equivalent of a full work week to drive nonstop from coast to coast. I could spend my entire 2 week vacation just driving from my home in Maryland to California and back, nonstop, and get back just in time to go back to work because my vacation would be over.

And we have so many different environments, to include cultures, from Cajuns in Louisiana, Cowboys in Texas, Little Italy, Little Havana, Chinatown, Little Haiti, Tex-Mex, Vietnamese, Bosnian etc., etc., etc. Over 300 Indian Reservations which are Semi-Autonomous. Where I grew up (Vermont, which came from the French, Vert Mont or Green Mountains) half of the small town spoke French, not English. We hope you come visit. You just have no idea, Polish communities, Irish, Scandanavians, Portuguese and I am not just talking about NYC (I wouldnt go there if you paid me to). Appalachia, the Mid-West, Amish and it just goes on and on and we have a lot more freedoms that the EU and with respect the UK. FYI, I have lived and worked abroad for over 25yrs and find something good about every place I have been too.

NYC is definitely more expensive than London, but salaries are much higher, too.

Top 25 places and he didn't even include the Grand Canyon, Chicago, Washington DC, The Smokey Mountains, Rocky Mountain National Park, Arches National Park, The Badlands, Sedona, San Francisco, The Great Lakes... the US is big.

Yosemite is the closest national park on this list to me...I've been there, it's amazing. 🙂 Hawaii would be a 15 hour trip for you guys, and I've been there too and it is indeed amazing....but you might want to also consider Puerto Rico, which is basically the east coast version of Hawaii, and is also part of the USA (if someone is born in Puerto Rico, they are automatically a US citizen). Also the US Virgin Islands are nearby, a quick airplane, helicopter or ferry ride. 🙂 Puerto Rico is only about five hours away from London on a jet aircraft. Although the only direct flight is from Madrid, Spain, so I guess a little longer; fly to Madrid, then fly to PR. 🙂 As far as why we don't often travel internationally, it's the same reason why Europeans don't often fly out here. Long and expensive flights. Like I said, from Silicon Valley to London is an 11 hour trip. So it's understandable that not many Brits or Europeans fly out here. Some do, though. San Francisco gets several million visitors every year, from all over the world (SF is 56 miles or 90 km away from me, about an hour on the train or driving). 🙂 Also, for a long period of time, one did not need a passport to fly to Canada or Mexico, the two closest countries to the continental USA, but now it is required, so more are getting passports. 🙂 Brits or Europeans are only a short drive away from the closest foreign country (an or a couple hours). In most parts of the USA, that's not the case. 🙂

so many of the ones featured are on the West coast. Yes, it's pretty, but there's so much else in the rest of the country... like West Virginia, western NC (Appalachian mountains), Lowcountry South Carolina (esp Charleston), Michigan's lakes, Chicago, bayou country in Louisiana (not to mention New Orleans), the Chesapeake Bay, Rhode Island, Vermont (especially Stowe), Maine (eat lobster!), Grand Canyon, .... just SO much to see

Well, I'm 70 - and guess what -- I don't have a passport!! I will finally go to the final States in the lower 48 and will have visited all - except Hawaii and Alaska! I'm not dead yet - so you never know! But I have no desire to travel out of the country!! Why - where is better??? Most are dying to come and visit the US from those countries!!! I have camped in the Redwoods, walked across Multnomah Falls, I've tried the entire coastline of Washington, Oregon and California - been to Disney, Knotts Berry Farm, Camped on the ocean all the way to San Diego - Lived in Phoenix for 20 years the rest in Ohio, but been to New Mexico and visited the Alamo in Texas - I've been to Wyoming and Idaho and Colorado to many national parks there been to N & S Dakota been to Oklahoma, spent every summer in NYC from age 8-17 to studying dance and enjoy the entire city...been to the Oldest City in the US in St. Augustine, Florida and down to Miami, stayed in New Orleans La, and Savannah Ga, Jackson, Mississippi, yep every state but the New England States and will end that in early October to see the beautiful leaves and eat all the seafood I can handle!

I lived in Utah for 17 years, but have traveled the entire country. Lake Powell is the most amazing, most underestimated place in the U.S. It is truly amazing to drive a boat through a canyon with thousand foot cliffs in super warm, clear, aqua colored water. It is impossible to even describe.

The US is a similar size to Australia. We have several different biomes to the US - tropical, sub-tropical, temperate and snowy mountains. Nothing like the Rocky Mountains though...the great barrier reef in Aus is amazing.

Just starting watching your videos and will subscribe. I was watching the Top 25 places to visit and the only thing that was mentioned about Wa St. was Seattle. Very disappointing. He left out the Olympic National Park, Mt. Rainier, North Cascades , Columbia River and many more. To hell with Seattle, that is not Washington State.

Just a few weeks ago, the United States grew in size by 1 million square kilometers (more than 386,000 square miles) - that’s almost twice the area of Spain... We have a lot of shared History with the United Kingdom as well. C'mon over 🎉 😊

Yes that is why we don’t travel much also we have limited time for vacation. Usually 2 or 3 weeks per year after 5 years employment. That’s if you work for a good place! Great video! Subscribed from Michigan USA.💙

He could easily do 2 or three more lists of 25. This country is huge and is geographically, culturally, historically diverse. Nothing comparable in the world in that respect.

The Redwoods trees, are actually taller than the length of a football field by 79 Ft. A lot of the South including Florida, is Very Hot and Humid, so be prepared. Not their in the park, I don't think, but part of Yellowstone is in Montana, and their definitely are hot springs you can go in their. Plus several other hot springs across the country.

Before 9/11, Americans could go anywhere in North America, without a passport. We had open borders (at least for us) with both neighbors. That's a larger total area than Europe, with no need for a passport. But a European goes 10 minutes in any direction, and they land in a new country, so they think they are world travelers. Hilarious.

Yes, a large portion of the populace don't feel like leaving because it is so vast, diverse and amazing here. We have just about everything you could think of and with all of that in your backyard, why travel to less?

In one Nov 2023 list NYC was tied for third most expensive place to live with Geneva. Zurich and Singapore tied for No. 1. Los Angeles was 6 and San Francisco was 10. London was not on list but real estate wise in recent years London was the highest.
