In his heyday, people didn't realize just how good Tyson's footwork was. You'd blink, he'd disappear, and that's before he even hit you. When Tyson did his shift to the side, it's so fast that you can quite literally miss it if you blink... and Tyson would figure out the timing on his opponent's blinks.

A lot of people like the narrator might remember Tyson only for his devastating attack, but he was a master of the defense. Most boxers plan their defense only to avoid the hit and move away to survive and later prepare a new charge, but Tyson's defense was about avoiding the hit by positioning himself in a chambering stance to come back with a devastating blow in the same breath.

If you got to see the full endings after the knockout, like in the last fight with Thomas, Tyson was actually a very gracious winner. He would go and check on his opponents, sometimes help them up and even hug them. Most of the time in boxing and UCF, the trash talk is just to hype the fight for promotions.
@Garkimyer
@Garkimyer 7 ай бұрын
As silly as they may sound, they kind of have to say that they think they can win, or they’ve already lost before the match even starts. Tyson already had the mental edge in almost all his fights, if his opponents admitted publicly that they were scared of him its just game over. You’d also have to wonder why they’d accept the fight in the first place if they had no confidence in winning to begin with.

It was Mike's BESTIAL left hand that made him the legendary fighter we speak about. When he stopped using that hand like he used to, THAT'S when he started losing fights left and right, no pun intended. Everyone sees the obvious stuff when it comes to Tyson, but I see his insane ring IQ, near preternatural precision, immaculate technique, brilliant punch selection, etc. as criminally overlooked attributes that don’t get nearly enough recognition. Plus, Tyson was more or less “created” by the most brilliant mind in the history of boxing: Cus D’Amato. Yes, Tyson was (I mean still is) a monster, but it was the intelligent deployment of his attributes that made him a champion… As an individual who has spent 37 years in the world of boxing, I look at Tyson as one of the greatest fighters to ever have laced up, full stop.

I remember my friends always wanted to buy the PPV's to watch his fights.. We would buy it and almost every fight it never lasted passed the 1st round haha.. The advantage and disadvantage he had were the same thing. he was pretty small for a heavyweight. The average heavyweight was 6ft 2 - 6ft 5 and Tyson was only 5ft 11 so he always had the reach disadvantage but his style of fighting was perfect for that. His head movement and ability to get inside quickly and strike hard made his " disadvantage " an actual advantage against bigger, slower fighters.

The last fighter, Pinkland Thomas, was severely addicted to heroin when he fought Iron Mike. And contrary to popular belief, if you’re addicted, it no longer works as a pain killer and it is certainly not performance enhancing. Notice how different Mike treated Pinkland after the fight than he did his “daddy” who was crying making women’s gestures 😅 (the fact I’ve heard that clip for the first time ever watching your video has earned you my sub) Anyway, Pinkland was already a veteran and respected boxer and it wasn’t till a few years ago Mike was on a late night show and said his toughest opponent was Pinkland Thomas but only realized that very recently after his friend made him watch the replay of the fight bc Pinkland took about 17 square punches from Mike and didn’t go down. Which is kind of an inhuman feat of strength in itself
