I'm waiting for a flamboyant "slay queen, slay" as Dan just systematically wipes the board with his queen. Also, #1 rule in chess: call the horse a knight. #2 rule in chess: when you can't think of a good move, you move a pawn into an ultimately inconsequential position. Worst thing that happens is you lose a pawn. The first three or four are basically disposable in most casual games. Best thing is you manage to somehow sneak a pawn all the way across the board and get another queen. Average outcome is you stall for time until the opponent makes a move you can safely exploit to capture or trade pieces.

I think it’s important to know the value of pieces too. Pawn 1, Knight/Bishop 3, Rook 5, and Queen 9. Arin spends most games afraid to make even trades with knights/bishops that can potentially give him better positions.

Just keep playing and try to develop a sense of what pieces move across the board in which ways. Like see the lines in your head of where all the pieces go and intersect. This way you can avoid moving your pieces in danger of that bishop across the board you forgot about. Arin also makes the mistake of blocking his pieces in all the time

The most agonizing part of this isn't Arin's bad playing, it's the fact Dan left his King WIDE open for Arin's Queen, but Arin was too focused on his half of the board to even notice he could have checked the king, forced a move, and then taken the pawn about to be a queen.
