I always wondered who did those crazy missile/laser barrages. It says a lot about how distinct is work is when you can pick him out no matter what show he's animating.

BGMがCOWBOYBEBOPの「what planet is this!?(この星はどうなってるんだ!?)」なんだが、この変態的(褒め言葉)作画を若くして極めていた村木さんこそが「この人の頭の中どうなってるんだ!?」て感じだよな… あとこのBGMでパトレイバー2の東京の橋連続爆破シーン流すのはなんか…うん

It's beautiful to see what can be done with fully realized hand-drawn animation. I don't say that because I'm driven by nostalgia, as some people like to say (there is that, and there nothing wrong with a dose of that). But I say it because animation of this type is a thing to behold when you consider some sat there, imagined it, drew it, got others to pitch, and together gave birth to this visual poetry. All by hand, on paper (or tablet). Worth noting is the amazing effects animation involving the the missile barrages and their trails. P.S. love the selection of Yoko Kano's jazzy Cowboy Bebop score. That was from the movie. Wasn't it?
@sneezlebottom1374 жыл бұрын
Yeah, from the same scene included in this video. It's called "What planet is this?!" I have nothing to really back this up with, but I actually think hand-drawn animation is baseline superior to computer animation. I can't really put my finger on it, but I think it's really in the details. I can think of so many hand-drawn shots of different nature, that I am actually *wowed* by. And not really all that many computer animated ones (REDLINE came to mind, but that's hand-drawn too, lol). And I don't think it's because in the moment I'm considering how it's so amazing, because it's hand-drawn. I'm no animator, but I wonder if something of such consequence is lost in the choice of animation. Maybe it's just a style thing. *shrug*
@akina49003 жыл бұрын
@@sneezlebottom137 computer animated is a weird thing to put it, people still draw every single frame- and alot of key animators still use paper. the final lines we see are drawn on a tablet by the inbetweeners, yeah something about the old pencil line work speaks differences with the feel, and back then a shit ton of details were added too
