Phosphate is made when bird poop dries for many years. Nauru used to get those birds as it’s in the Middle of the sea and thus the high phosphate availability.

Ecologically what happened to Nauru is going to happen to Australia too. Australia is being expolited by the Crown for resources. Since Australia is big it would take much longer time to feel the destruction. There are places in Australia where no human can live due to over mining and chemical spillage. Half of the flora and fauna are already endangered. They (you know who) just dont undertsnd the land and ecosystem even after being here for centuries and they think what they do is correct and standard way of doing things. Those who know the land (you know who) have mostly been exterminated, pushed to the outback and made to live in miserable conditions. Half of the world do not even know the reality of Australia and go orgasm over some fake tourism and eduaction campaigns.

I thinks there is more to the story (from being rich to poor on per capita basis). I suspect/ assume (but not sure) that most of the upper class and rich (crème a la crème) must have left the country for overseas along with there wealth which must have resulted in the current economic situation and of course other factors also.
