i mean if it goes from 800-700 to 400 suddenly and ur monitor has a refresh rate at 360 how can it be choppy. Am I wrong in asumming refresh rate works that way, sounds more like a placebo effect.

it might not feel as consistent for him because with higher fps the latency goes down so if it suddenly fluctuates like that it causes him to notice the small changes in latency since its very noticeable which what he considers stuttering since the mouse movement feels delayed when u drop that much frames

you don't need to display anything over your monitor's hz, physically you can't 😂

It really depends on how many hertz is your monitor is. For example, if you have like 60hz or 75hz, you still need above 60 FPS or 75 FPS since the input delay is crazy especially when fighting enemies that have better PC than you. If you have above 180hz monitor, it's fine to cap it 20 - 30 FPS more than your monitor hertz at that point

This is what normally people think however if you get more fps than your monitors refresh rate then you will always been shown the latest frame which means lower latency
