Whereas the 1980s had that as well as HipHop, House, and Techno battling it out as well. Plus the 1980s UK British music invasion was even bigger than the first one (in THE 1960s) with more groups obtaining success through it.

Watched this on an old TOTP from 1982. It was head and shoulders the best thing on the show. Freshly innovative it was up against 70s greats such as Cliff Richards. No contest!
