Here’s the thing about that statement. Maybe you’re not the biggest Evanescence fan. Maybe you are a fan. The thing is, they do have some really encompassing, emotive melodies and hooks, and delivered by Amy Lee, you can’t go wrong because her voice is thick and milky and she has a good belt. Some of their songs are really great, like Going Under Lithium Everybody’s Fool Taking Over Me Missing What You Want My Heart Is Broken My Immortal Hello Tourniquet Snow White Queen Call Me When You’re Sober They have been extremely influential in the Metal scene to other female fronted bands. You have Josh Freese on drums, from A Perfect Circle, so you can’t go wrong there. Amy Lee’s songwriting is strong. & Ben Moody is the mastermind of it all. If you haven’t heard We Are The Fallen they have an album that is pretty much wall to wall killer all the way through. (Evanescence with a different singer) In the past, Evanescence’s main problem has been that Amy Lee lacked the proper vocal technique and control required to pull off these songs live. Especially after aging a bit since coming on the scene. It’s fine in the studio, but singing live in front of thousands of screaming fans is a very different story. She basically set herself up for a struggle. Sort of like Mariah Carey. (In using this comparison, I mean that she has created difficult songs for live performances, as Mariah’s technique is on point) I can tell you a song like “Going Under” is a real bitch to sing because I’m a professional singer myself, and I understand the breath control and vocal agility and dynamics it takes to sing like that. There just isn’t much room for taking a breath at all. Now Nightwish is superior in its orchestrated complexity and for their live shows. Tarja was the original and a wonderful singer with a unique and iconic voice, but Floor has clearly taken the band to new heights previously unreachable. And yes , she would slay Amy in a vocal battle. But I don’t believe their music dwarfs Evanescence to the point of mediocrity. That’s my take on it. Having said all of this, I think that “Ghost Love Score” is probably one of the greatest pieces of music ever constructed for the masses. For all the reasons that we love it.

@@Neonbob we all love Floor and Nightwish and thats why we're here. But y'all have to stop dissing Amy bc when she started making music in the late 90s she paved the way for most of the metal women who came after her and made the music genre accessible to mainstream audiences. Fallen is one of the best-selling rock albums in history for a reason. So why dont we just stop put against each other these magnificent queens..?

Hello @ Yaz the Producer ! Nightwish fans here, your reaction just appeared on our radar.. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band, performing in 2013 at Wacken Open Air festival, in front of a 82k+ audience. It was a real pleasure for me to see your eyes becoming bigger and bigger with each minute :) And that's yet still more, much more for you to see.. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen, the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. Marco Hietala is the Bassist and vocals .And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen . Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrulmentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " Hope you'll continue this journey with us, so I'll drop here a list of songs with the current lineup of the band you may like: "Romanticide" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/sKvCaIJ5eLafjtU "Ever Dream" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z4nMZaFuma-WfJo "Storytime" live at Wacken 2013 (uplifting vocals) kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqfOiqqFf7-ChLc "Song Of Myself" live at Wacken 2013 (dark/metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooLYZoSgnsl7jck "Dead Boy's Poem" - live Buenos Aires 2018 (soulful ballad) kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWmoZH9tnMx_g68 "Ghost River" live at Wacken 2013 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/ZmbImqeaYqp0bKs "My Walden" live at Wembley 2015 (celtic / folk) kzbin.info/www/bejne/oZ_UlnxuZZyNors "Sleeping Sun"live at Tampere 2015 (ballad) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKTSpZ-wp56qhNk "Stargazer" live at Tampere 2015 (operatic vocals / metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/hJmopnSGjtKSi8k "Slaying The Dreamer" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/rXKXZaeglrVopJI "I Want My Tears Back" live at Buenos Aires 2018 (celtic / folk vibe) kzbin.info/www/bejne/inOylZqun8djoa8 "Devil & The Deep Dark Ocean" live In Buenos Aires 2018 (metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/qmOZo5Ksdr6EZrM "Weak Fantasy" live at Tampere 2015 (dark metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3-VZGyGl9aVoNE "7 Days To The Wolves" live at Wembley 2015 (dark metal) kzbin.info/www/bejne/jqfWl6p3hceKjsU And if you want to hear Floor growling :) then try "Yours Is An Empty Hope" live at Wembley 2015 kzbin.info/www/bejne/rKqvpIhthphmac0 Last but not the least - they just released their 9th studio album on April 10th named "Human :||: Nature" - just take a peek to their official playlist: kzbin.info/aero/PLihZ3gi5Yvzc0pfH2cbNKUUX8o3pb8eVg You can also react to Floor Jansen's performances in Beste Zangers 2019 (TV show from Netherlands), here is a playlist made by Floor herself (start listen it in reverse order..): kzbin.info/aero/PL8iSYWeQhlimgUnWw1FDdiJN0msPzqpLo Thank you! The band are from Finland, apart from the singer Floor, who is Dutch, and the sole Brit in the band, Troy (not on stage for this song) who plays the Uilleann pipes, tin whistle, bousouki, vocals, guitar and... well basically anything else he fancies.

The fact that Nightwish get so little airtime and are mostly unknown in the UK and USA is a crime against humanity, it really is. Nightwish is the biggest rabbit hole in music, the one you are staring down right now... go on jump in! There's about 120 studio songs and a whole bunch of concerts. Dont make the mistake of thinking thats all Nightwish does, because they go from everything between acoustic folk music through to celtic metal through to songs as heavy as anything Metallica came out with. A lot of Nightwish is more metal than GLS, so give them a try... Try Ever Dream from this concert, Wacken 2013. The composer Tuomas Holopainen... because thats what he is, the Metal Mozart is an absolute genius... you put him behind Floor Jansen who is simply the best, most versatile vocalist out there in metal... Marco the bassist and vocals, the voice of Finland... Jukka on drums here was amazing, sadly he no longer plays with the band because of health issues, but is still in management. They replaced Jukka with Kai from Wintersun, and he is just an absolute beast on those drums, if you ever watch a Wintersun video you will see. Emppu is the hobbit on lead guitar, full of pranks, doesnt shred too often but when he does...wow. They also added Troy Donockley from England, hes described as Mulit-instrumentalist, but you basically put anything in his hand and he can make music. Whistles, flutes, bagpipes, guitars, Ulleian pipes... just yes. everything. In short.... every song will have you saying wow for different reasons. Sometimes its the power of the metal, sometimes its how beautiful the song is, sometimes its the lyrics.... its always the music. Musically, finding this band is life changing, it really is.

@@yazma2 hope you enjoy what nightwish has to offer. They sell out huge stadiums in Europe and south america where they are well known... They did sell out wembley arena over here a couple of times at 15000, but manchester at 21000 didnt quite do it. Wacken open air in Germany with them headlining was 82000. Anyway, have fun. Dont have any expectations going into a new Nightwish song, it could be literally anything. Only thing that I and I am sure many others will tell you... if you decide to go for The poet and the pendulum and The greatest show on earth... do some research on the song first. You will get 50x more out of them if you know what they are about. These are often called "the three epics"... ghost love score is the shortest, Poet and the pendulum is about 14 minutes and the greatest show on earth about 24 minutes. Is that a Yorkshire accent i hear? By eck there's not too many of us in t'nightwish army lass!

Aramanth, Over the Hills, Bye Bye Beautiful, Nemo, The Islander and Wish I Had an Angel were played quite a lot (not freaking enough). And they're big enough to fill Wembley Arena (14k), so they are definitely more popular here than over in the US. I don't think they're big ENOUGH, though. I want to see them fill the O2.

The concert was live at Wacken festival in Germany with about 82000 visitors. I dare say, Nightwish are one of the best symphonic metal bands on this planet. The band origin is from Finland. The vocalist on stage is Floor Jansen from Netherlands. She joined the band after the previous female vocalist left the band. She first just jumped in as replacement, but is doing such a brilliant job, that she became a full member of the band. This concert was after her joining them fully. I love this band, and their music and concerts are of super high quality and epicness. Maybe you want to try "The greatest show on Earth" sometime. There is also a great live footage of that song in KZbin. PS: The instrument is supposed to resemble a pipe organ, but I am quite sure it is stage design and the sound comes from the keyboad with high quality.

I need to correct myself a little bit after watching the documentary "Please learn the set list in 48 hours." of the tour. Floor joined Nightwish in October 2012 to complete the tour after Anette left in September in the US. Wacken was in August 2013 in Germany of the same tour, and at that time Floor was still just the "temporary replacement" singer. Well, she was already this great after touring with the band for 10 months! Also their gig at the festival was in the late evening about 22:45 until after midnight according to the plan. And the whole band and the atmosphere all look so happy. Wish I had been there...

True she is a big fan of NW; a big fan of Tarja who she was trying to emulate early on in her career. She's been in 2 other bands prior to NW (After Forever and ReVamp) and outside of the Symphonic Metal genre she was a low-profile performer. She joins NW which was a "known" band and automatically elevates, not only herself, but the band into another level. Now they are a high-profile band in Metal as a whole and she's just soaking it in. And good for her. I saw he in '08 with AF and I was blown away. Then a year later the band breaks up due to the guitarist having burn out. Then a year after that she forms ReVamp but comes down with burn out herself so her career stalled a bit. Joining NW was the best for both parties as NW was dealing with firing their second singer, Anette, in less than 5 years. Strange how shit works itself out sometimes.

Nice reaction :-), and its easy to understand you, and Im from Denmark. The band is from Finland (originally all members). Floor Jansen the singer is Dutch and the third singer in NW. Then there is a muliti instrumentalist Troy from England, he was not on stage here. The "pipe organ" is a decoration. Wacken is a good concert to react from, because of the sound quality, but NW have 3 more high quality concert recording in high quality and has been around for nearly 25 years, so a lot.......... of songs to cover :-). I can recommend Dark Chest of Wonders (opening track), Song of My Self for more heavy songs. Ghost River and Storytime for less heavy.

@@yazma2 They even made a full movie out of their own album "Imaginaerum". But they also made music for other films, the most noteworthy so far being "Lieksa!". There is an official video for their song "While your lips are still red" with scenes from the movie, but it's not good to react to because of those very scenes it gets blocked a lot. So just go watch it for yourself and then do a reaction to the live version at Wembley, which is even better (and doesn't get blocked). And Tuomas (founder, keyboarder, composer) is practically begging with his music to do a blockbuster movie score, heck, Hans Zimmer himself is a fan of him, so it should be only a matter of time really.

Hi, Yaz! Thank you for your reaction and welcome to the world of Symphonic Metal! Organ ;) But in this case it is for decoration -- behind it are three keyboards Tuomas is playing on. "This guy" is Emppu, Nightwish guitarist) Well, you just witnessed Her Majesty Northern Valkyrie Goddess Floor Jansen (pronounced Yansen, she is Dutch). Floor has classical background, rock academy behind, and used to be a vocal coach for a number of years. Floor is the most versatile and powerful female singer today and can sing anything from more pop-y style, classic opera, to metal screams and growls. Floor is a queen of singing emotions. Floor joined Nightwish in the middle of their Imaginaerum world tour in late 2012 (which includes this show from August 2013). Previous singer, Anette Olzon (she's currently in Dark Element) left the band while they were touring, and there was no certainty what to do with all the upcoming shows. They called Floor (her previous band did tour with NW in the past, and they knew each other). Floor flew immediately to help them out and temporarily replace Anette for the rest of the world tour. She arrived two days before the next show, and she had only 48 hours to learn the entire setlist. And she did. There is official documentary about all that -- "PLEASE LEARN THE SETLIST IN 48 HOURS" ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/rJmoqZ6jjLCAe7c ) For Floor it was first really big gig with Nightwish, 82K people, at the time she was only for a few months with the band. After the world tour (in October 2013), they made Floor their official member. This song was performed at the end of 90min show, at the 1hr 10min mark. Nightwish formed in '96 in Finland, initially with Tarja (Tar-ya) Turunen as a vocalist. She left the band in 2005, and Anette Olzon stepped in, until 2012. The bassist with a cool beard is Marco, and he sings some parts too. He has his own solo project outside the Nightwish. The mastermind behind 99% of lyrics and music is a keyboardist Tuomas. Guitarist name is Emppu, and the drummer in this show is Jukka (Yukka), but later he was replaced by Kai Hahto because of health issues. Flutes/uilleann pipes/guitar/vocals - Troy, he did not perform in this song. Nightwish is better live, always, so if live performance is available, go for it. In their performances, they often using recorded backtrack of a classical orchestra for their songs. They have very diverse music, from more light songs to epic scores like this, and to really heavy metal stuff. For the next Nightwish experience, I can suggest listening to: -- Storytime from the same Wacken 2013 live ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXLapa2fbLZmeM0 ) -- for move heavy: Ghost River, Song Of Myself, both from Wacken 2013 also ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXLapa2fbLZmeM0 ) ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXLapa2fbLZmeM0 ) -- If you want to explore more Floor versatility, check out her performances on a TV show Beste Zangers in 2019: (Lady Gaga's Shallow for ex.) ( kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2eboZhqlsRssM0 ) Greetings from Moscow and stay safe! ;) Looking forward to seeing more NW on your channel!

Tuomas the keyboardist has a couple of fake fronts for his keyboards. I think they are mostly places to hide his wine which he drinks during the show. Floor has said that "Ghost Love Score" is her favorite NW song to sing. There are only two members of the band that are original members and that's Tuomas the keyboardist and composer of most of their music and Empuu the lead guitarist. Marco the bassist joined the band about three years in.

Care Package for Surviving Nightwish Formed in 1996 in Finland. Symphonic Metal. Their backing tracks are composed by the keyboard player which are then recorded with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Too hard to have the entire orchestra at the concerts. Thus the name, symphonic metal. They have had 3 different female vocalists. Tarja Turunen. The band was built around her powerful operatic voice. Then came Annette Olzon from Sweeden. Her voice was good but more of the pop style. Floor Jansen is their current vocalist, say no more, except do not under any circumstances compare her to Amy Lee from Evernescence. The Army will tear you limb from limb. 🤣🤣🤣 Current members Tuomas Holopainen is the keyboard player. He writes and arranges 95% of the works. Nightwish is his baby Erno "Emppu" Vuorinen is the lead guitarist and also founding member. The band trickster. Marco Heitala joined in 2001. Bass guitarist. Guitarist and singing god. Jukka Nevalainen is the beast on drums. He however suffered from chronic insomnia and had to give it away. Now Kai Hahto is the drummer. He took over in 2014. That was after the Wacken festival. Pronounced Var ken. Floor Jansen is the vocal Godess from the Netherlands. She took over on very short notice from Annette Olzon in October 2012 during their Imaginaerim World Tour. Wacken was the 3rd last concert in August 2013. And finally Troy Donockley from the UK. Very talented musician in his own rights You name it, he plays it, as well as vocals. If possible, always watch their live shows. They bring so much more than just the music. Some facts about the concert. Wacken Festival held every year in Northern Germany. The flaming bulls head is the logo of the festival. 82k+ people And the pipes around Tuomas's (pronounced as it sounds, not Thomas) keyboard are for decoration. Don't have anything to do with the sound. If you start with Ghost Love Score try to remember this is their 13th song of the night out of 15. Just shows you how good they are. Common terms used in Nightwish Floorgasm: When Floor sings and you get chills down you spine and goose bumps. Flarco: When Floor and Marco sing together Floy: Floor and Troy together Flarcoroy: All 3 together Tuomas is quite often referred to as the Metal Mozart, and he is. Hope you enjoy this epic music

In 2020 the best singers on the planet are niche artists like Dimash and Floor Jansen. You're only "supposed to" know about inferior pop stars.

@@yazma2 Dimash, Sohyang from Korea, and Nightwish's Floor Jansen are the best on the planet; so good they make vocal coaches weep at times. Happy hunting 😉 Subbed.

@@yazma2 you do not know Dimash? I thought that there are no such people in the world. Especially after the scandal in the "World Best". Good luck exploring the world of Dimash. Do you like roller coasters? Each Dimash performance is a roller coaster of vocal genres and styles. 6 octaves and D8 included. p.s. I'll tell you a secret, just don't tell anyone, If you'll do reactions to Dimash, I guarantee 10k subscribers very quickly.

When Floor sings the last high note, it's oftenly refered as "Floorgasm" by the fans, as first timers are usually so shocked by it

Wacken (pronounced Vacken) had 82,000 people in that venue, the guitarist is a regular part of the band, those are normal keyboards dressed up with the pipes. The keyboardist (Tuomas, Pronounced like Duo-mas but with a 'T') is also the composer and song writer. The lead singer is Floor Jansen. the band is from Finland. You might also like 'Within Temptation', 'Xandria', all symphonic metal.
