It's a very realistic model, I was a operator on a LG1550 and it's a very nice crane! The LTM1800 and LG1550 is the same crane but with different boom :)

If you still have this model and the LTM 11200 , I think it would be really interesting if you could do a comparison video showing off how crane technology has evolved in the 25 years that separate these two flagships, from a "real crane" perspective more than the modeling one. For example, it would be interesting to know how much of the 1200 ton capacity of the LTM 11200 comes from just having a Y-guy arrangement available, since the LTM 1800 doesn't appear to have one; and if you could point out how much time is saved - or not - by the added features of the more modern cranes that would also be really cool. Same goes for this and the LTM 1750 as well - that would also be an interesting comparison because they're more or less the same capacity, but completely different in how they're put together.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I don't have the time and resources to do it.

OK, that's fair. :) I'd just like to let you know that I appreciate the amount of real world information you provide in the videos you make - for me, that's the best part of this channel really, the amount of things I learn about the real machines as you point out how this feature or that feature works etc, and what the equipment is used for. Sure, the models are spectacular as well, but that's because you only review the good stuff. :)

In real life the weight of the crane in tansport mode is over 120 tons if you have all winches installed.. I operated a LG1550 for one year in Sweden and we had only winch 4 and winch 1 installed, just a fun fact :)

Love all your reviews CranesEtc! Can you please clarify one point regarding the graphics on this model: are the graphics applied as decals or as tampos (pad-printed)? And is YCC's Liebherr LTM 1400 similarly featuring decals or tampos? Thanks!
@CranesEtcTV7 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I don't usually focus on the techniques used to make a model (or in this case graphics) as I prefer to consider the finished item and the clarity of graphics. I also find it hard to tell sometimes which techniques are used! For the 1800 the major graphics are all sharp and clean, and I cannot see any obvious signs of transfers having been used. All I can suggest is you look at the detailed photos on www.CranesEtc.co.uk and use those as a guide as to whether a model meets your expectations.

First of all, I must thank you for replying to my question. I thoroughly enjoy your video reviews and witty commentary, but the fact that you take the time to write thoughtful replies to any random person who asks a question on your KZbin videos makes me a star in my book :) On topic now: I appreciate your forthrightness and agree that sometimes it is hard to tell whether graphics are printed (tampo etc) or decals. Poorly applied decals do show up rather easily. The transparent back layer being visible at the right angle of light incidence, especially at the decal border, is a dead giveaway. I personally dislike decals because they are essentially a sticker applied to the model, and thus not as refined a manufacturing technique as actual paint layers (as in tampo printing). The preference for tampos is not just a matter of taste, but also because decals have a higher chance of degrading over time (yellowing, cracking, and just plain peeling off). I will have a close look at your review photos to see if the graphics show signs of being decals. This may all be a moot point anyway, since as luck would have it when I decide to seriously start collecting construction diecast and select this model as a first purchase it is sold out everywhere :( Cheers, and thank you again for your wonderful reviews :)

Thanks again. I hope the reviews are helpful. YCC Models are high end, usually made in limited numbers, and they tend to sell well. The Schmidbauer as an anniversary model was destined to sell out fast.
