I think the kiss for Penelope was a moment of honesty - she truly believed she would never achieve love and would be stuck with her mother forever so she went out on a limb and asked for what she wanted with the person she wanted. For her, it was essentially a goodbye kiss, both for her future prospects and for Colin in general. If anything, it also shows the trust that she has in him to be able to ask and not worry that he will mock her. For him, I think it was a moment of realization that his feelings he has always had for her might not just be friendship.

I do love that the first time Pen asks for what she wants SHE GETS EXACTLY WHAT SHE WANTS (lord help Colin) 😭

The kiss scene is word for word from the book. She really was that desperate and wanted to be kissed just once in her life. Like in the show, as you can see on his face after the kiss, Colin fall for her in that moment. in the book too. After the kiss all changed.

Oh it's definitely innocence on Penelope's part. She meant what she said. After this scandal, she believes she has like .01% chance of finding a husband. Yes, she was gaining confidence with speaking to men, but she doesn't view Colin as a suitor anymore. After what she overheard him say in the garden, she doesn't believe he could ever be interested in her. That kiss was an ending for Penelope, but an awakening for Colin. With the Mondridges, I believe the way it works is since their son is underage, they run the estate which affords them a "ticket" into society, but they don't have a title like him. This is my first time watching your reaction. I really enjoyed it and look forward to more. 😊

You are so suspicious of Penelope 😂 LW has never printed a lie. Pen is 19, a virgin, who girl is trying her best out here 👏

So fast! ❤ You are really getting your reactions out 😊😁 We LOVE Colin. But he is a dunce. A sweetie but a rock when it comes to recognizing what's RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIS FACE. Love him though🥰

No game on Penelope's part. That kiss was her saying goodbye to all her crush, hopes and dreams with Colin. Too many people look at her actions and immediately think she's being shifty but this was a moment of pure vulnerability on her part. I'm looking at the scene with the knowledge of the book.

I related with a brutal honesty to Penelope's fear of never getting to be kissed. Fat/Bigger girls constantly have to deal with the narrative that we don't deserve the kind of love that Penelope (eventually) gets, and I can't speak for everyone, but I've definitely had similar thoughts to her speech to Colin before. It really hit home for me!

Good to see you YC! That kiss at the end was everything! Come through Pen, love her so much & Colin was curious so why not indulge his friend. 💛

Mr and Mrs. Mondrich would remain Mr. and Mrs. Mondrich, I think they handle the estate while their son is young but when he is of age he'll be Baron of Kent.

I trully believe that Penelope and Collin had that kiss moment for real...I saw myself in Penelope's speech about the fear of never being kissed because of you weight and body shape. So, I think she was really afraid of being attached to her mother forever and sigle. But I need to see she with Collin together forever and she will be the city shade and gossip journalist and he will be a writter of sexual novels....ahhaahhaha

Interesting question. Remember...Her mother is a master of 'playing the game'. Think Kris Jenner in Regency England.

I always am surprised how people support Penelope's scathing tongue, and don't call her out on her cruelty. Or maybe people just conveniently separate her from Whistledown.
@Pinneapplle8 ай бұрын
I haven't read the books, but the texts that LW narrates in the series don't seem cruel to me at all... Apart from Eloise's situation, which was a secret from a friend, LW usually doesn't say anything bad about someone attacking the individual, she comments about situations which generates consequences (good or bad - She saved Daphne from the creep in s1) for the individuals.
@quz9088 ай бұрын
@@Pinneapplle You're right, she did save Daphne from Berbrook. She also was the one to call her The Diamond of the First Water, only to question her worthiness when she hadn't gotten a proposal in a week. She also said some damning things about the Duke. And each time she doesn't like what someone says, instead of having a conversation, she runs off and uses LW as a coping mechanism. I wouldn't call her a villain, but she's far from the kind-hearted innocent. Imo
@garlantyrell63688 ай бұрын
@@quz908Who exactly can she talk to though. Her family ignores and thinks so little of her, Eloise only thinks about women’s rights 24/7, and Colin never truly saw Penelope the way she saw him. Plus, it would be scandalous for a man and woman to talk to one another so much in public. Sadly, Penelope doesn’t have much of a support system and while she does use LW as an unhealthy way to cope with her problems, it’s truly all she has in her life.

I share your exact sentiments about Penelope. I think she is playing a clever game to lure Colin in which I am not fond of, her writing skills also suggest she is not that innocent. I am struggling to enjoy this season as there are not as many strong main characters as before. They need to change the format or bring in new characters. Season 1 was the best by far and the sexual tension was palpable. Season 2 was less intense but also enjoyable. Queen Charlotte was the best Bridgerton season by far. The British are by far the best in producing Period shows though. I think this show was a good replacement for those who enjoyed Downton Abbey.

I haven’t watched Queen Charlotte yet but I’m enjoying this season. Penelope is my favorite character but I think that’s because I enjoy Nicola Coughlan so much in Derry Girls.

what 'clever game' are you saying? it was obvious that kiss was a goodbye kiss. she lost hope.
@abcbandb8 ай бұрын
@@allier1867Yes, Penelope is secretive but never been self-serving. She threw herself under the bus 10x more than she talked about others and never exposed people maliciously. People also keep forgetting that Pen writes about things she's NEVER experienced--she's just that talented of a writer.
@Pfruit09168 ай бұрын
@@abcbandbexactly! She had never technically lied in any lady Whistledown publication. Pen does the same thing the other women of the ton do (gossip) she just does it on a bigger scale. She’s isn’t a hypocrite. She had talked about her own family and herself in her writings as well. In episode 1 when she forgave Colin and shook his hand that was literally her agreeing they were friends and nothing more. She seems fully resigned to the fact he will never see her in a romantic light. Asking for that kiss was because he’s a friend she can trust and as she said she doesn’t expect anything more & wouldn’t use it to force a connection between them. Ppl should keep in mind she ask for that kiss right on the heels of her own mother telling her she would never attract a husband. For her the kiss was just something she wanted to experience then she could move on with life and accept that she would likely never have real romantic love. It was an ending for Penelope but a beginning for Colin.

Yeah I think season 3 is probably not for you but the viewing numbers show that millions of people actually are enjoying it and don't have the same take as you do. Maybe rewatch QC if that's what you prefer.
