I agree with you on both the cat and QuickDraw categories. I dislike QuickDraw as a card (you commit so much into drill warrior, and there are so many horrible punishes). And I don’t like the spy versions of cat decks bc the GK engine is underwhelming. That’s fundamentally why I combined the two decks together. the cat package desperately needs a better main engine and the debris plant package needs a less commital conversion for their advantage engine. In cat plant, the cat portion of the deck is just the extra spice that steals some games solves problems that HRC + debris can’t solve. The plant stuff lets you play the game without relying on seeing your 1 of.

@@imnerdpodcast still has similar problems to a deck like Machina; no bombs like DAD, return, burial, etc, and you gotta worry about DDV/oppression. Also, same as every plant deck, the BW matchup is rough.

How do you feel about the Blizzard Dragon deck that's been floating around? I've been trying it out and it feels REALLY good. Has really solid matchups against the big 3 and is very consistent in my experience so far.

I actually got third at my local's first edison tournament playing the trap dragon deck after starting edison 2 weeks ago and the deck felt absolutely insane the only change I made was I'm playing Charge over Sarc and changing the side a bit since I didn't have some the cards in that list.

Normal summon Gearframe, extend into Fortress, attack with both + Limiter Removal is 8600. So Limiter is also interesting to think about in the context of Peacekeeper (more Gearframe essentially), as well as Gadgets and Geartown versions being underexplored; not only Gear Dragon, but Engineer is also a crazy card. Then again, one should go back to Diva Hero.

At 9 minutes in, a good thing for people to remember is that Frazier's problems with dragon turbo don't apply to you if you're just starting Edison, if I don't know the format and my options are play interactive games vs people that have been playing it for years or play an otk deck where I win or lose based on if I draw a good hand then I'm picking the high roll deck where I don't have to be better than my opponent.

Very true. If your goal is to play a casino deck and high roll then dragon turbo is the deck for you. Leave the highly interactive skillful decks to the highly interactive skillful players.

Got 2nd w UO zombie at a 100 man Edison regional so I still have it up there in the S tier (biased) but you definitely have it in a respectable tier given its lack of major results. I think it’s split w amaryllis as the deck that has the best chance to make it to next tier

The problem with the Hero Beat deck is that The Shining isn't around so the deck isn't able to recycle its key pieces. That's why it can't close big tournaments in Edison.

Great video and discussion for each. I will say, I feel like Edison is not so linear. As you mention, I really do feel like any deck can win and tier lists and hardcore competitive discussions about it seem really silly, and worse than that, very gatekeep-ish. I also I feel like Dragons that run Koaki Meiru Drago are super strong right now. I've played against Blackwings and Vayu and have literally won by normal summon Drago, pass for the entire game.

Glad Beasts are still very underrated amongst the community. If more people played it and used better builds (its an easy Deck to play, but not easy to build correctly) it would see even much more success. Tbh I could see it being in the Top 3 instead of Blackwings, its the slightly stronger control deck that has more and better answers against a variety of other strong decks.

I’d love to see you try to mess with the GK deck to see if there’s anything there. I realize most people aren’t super high on it, but the deck is so fun to play and there’s so many different ways to build it, I feel like a good player could really make some progress on it. Hot take: i think that dragon turbo is good on duelingbook cause db seems to have an algorithm that favors a more diverse opening hand, but the deck is mid IRL. When you ACTUALLY shuffle the deck and calculate the probability of bad hands vs good hands, its not very good. And i think thats why almost all the success dragon turbo has had has been in online tournaments. Also: that gadget list needs ultimate offering in it.

Congrats on winning the YCS. I was a Goat format purist but you inspired me to get into Edison a few years ago with your first hero frog profile and I’ve been playing ever since. Do you feel like frogs are the least represented out of the the big three (Vayu, Blackwings) decks? I know a lot of people think frogs are boring and linear but I couldn’t disagree more. I will agree with most people that frogs are generally miserable to play against. The exception would be solidarity gadgets which in my experience eats frogs alive. Gadgets can be ridiculously cheeky when their opponent is doing all these cute combos and they just Smashing Ground on their turn.

Frogs is definitely under represented in comparison to bw and vayu which are just easier decks to get wins with. The layers of frogs turns a lot of players off, and they remember playing against the deck, which like you said can be unpleasant when it just steamrolls you, so I get it. It’s hella rewarding for good players though which is why only really good players tend to do well with it.

The way I see Edison format is this. If your deck cannot utilize the unfair cards like Brain Control, Mind Control, Gorz, Dustshoot, Return from a Different Dimension, Burial from a Different Dimension, or Future Fusion, you're going to be having a hard time playing this format. If you are going to play Edison format seriously, you must invest in a deck that has taken 1st place at major events like YCS's and RBETS, and the decks in the tier 1 category have proven themselves time and again. I wouldn't waste my time with any deck outside the Tier 1 category as they have 0 chance of taking 1st place at bigger events. 1st place is what ultimately matters, everybody can compete for table scraps by taking 2-8 place, but the good prizes are always locked into 1st place.

as a hardcore norleras affectionate, and having played it very often now in FL and RBET's , i have to say that running cold wave in that deck is a huge mistake. it more often stops you from doing necessary plays. Also too much of each. I know it is probably a sample version but 3 dark creator is heavily preferred over 3 horus. and Gandora at least in side is mandatory for the amaryllis matchup endgame when you cannot close out the field due to low hp. 3 wyvern 2 REDMD is much better than 2 wyvern 3REDMD. You never truly know the pain on that card once you draw 2 of it and your only NS dragon is wyvern somewhere in the deck. I'd rate my version tier 1.5 personally. It is the same power level as dragon turbo with the downside that they are both sack heavy decks.
