In this video FILMY GUFTGU brings to an interesting trivia about Kishore Kumar, when the famous Music Director Salil Chowdhury said, "I am telling you! This Kishore is no singer." This incidence is of 1954, when Bimal Roy had signed Kishore Kumar for his film NAUKRI. Kishore Kumar had assumed that he would also get a chance to do playback singing in the film, but film's music director Salil Chowdhury was not keen to take him and was not impressed by his singing either. Only after repeated requests by Ashok Kumar and others Salil Chowdhury finally agreed to give Kishore Kumar a chance. Kishore Kumar had a really tough time in impressing Salil Da to get a chance to sing for him. Only in 1971, when Kishore Kumar sang the song "Koi Hota Jisko Apna Hum Keh Lete Yaaron" from Gulzar's film Mere Apne, that Salil Chowdhury said, "It took me 17 years to realize the depth and dimension of Kishore's voice. @@MRHitman8789 ji,no ,not at all ,infact the first man who I got introduced to in singing was kishoreda.and I only use to listen to his songs and started singing learning his songs bcoz u see there r hardly any good songs today to learn ,he is my guru.I started listening to rafigi much later after kishoreda bcoz I listened only to few of his songs and found it damn boring and too old for me.but as time went and I became little matured in singing and tried to stretch my boundaries I simply found that the man was just boundaryless in singing,he could just sing anything,b it classical,folk,thumri,westernromantic,sad,light,with sheer ease.I believe kishoreda also did that but I wld say he was one notch ahead of him just for his vocal range.both r singing gods ,I love both of them.just this small thing I have to say thanks.

Here, we are discussing the point that which persons had the ability to indenify the potential of Guru have when he was nothing as a singer. Only few music director like Mr. Khemchand Prakash, Mr. C Ramachandra and Mr. S D Burman able to see the same. As I mentioned earlier reply that I respect Mr. Chowdhury only as a great MD. And I will repeat that with all the due respect to the great Playback singers of Indian Film history (which is more than 100 years of age) nobody can touch Guru's shadow only in terms of Playback singing. Kishore Kumar was a born singer. He didnt need a classical training. He sang hundreds duets with Asha, Lata. And also with Ravi, Mukesh and Mahindar Kapoor. And ALL musicdirectors composed music for Kishore Kumar. Kishore Kumar is one of the greatest singer all time. If i have to choose between Ravi Mukesh and Kishore, i will choose Kishore Kumar. A very very important video with rare, almost unknown and controversial facts about kishore Kumar - Salil Chaudhury misunderstanding on musical deals. Salil Chaudhury is one of the greatest Composers of the music industry. No doubt he is also a very great soul otherwise he wouldn't have point blanc confessed his wrongly underestimating Kishore Kumar's musical talent some day.Again, he did so,many many years after that particular incident, when in the long run a realization dawned on him.
