Rob!! You’re 2 for 2 with me right now! I might have to rethink my stance on new-age journalism haha. I haven’t listened to V2 yet, but I’m looking forward to it. I didn’t listen to any leaks either. As a fan of Kanye’s music, I don’t think he has a “bad” album; just different stages of his life are reflected in his music, so I take it for what it is. With that said, Ye has always been straight-face funny to me, so I’m excited to hear those lines you pointed out. One of Kanye’s superpowers is bringing out the best in artists. He did it with Ross and Nicki on MBDTF, as well as Hov on WTT. He’s doing it with Ty$, and I hope he continues to do the same with others in the future.

My biggest gripes is the Husband/Lifestyle repeat track thing and the second half of 530. My fiance is trying to gaslight me that Ye seems to be using the Musical concept of a reprise to repeat Husband. With 530 I'm not sure if I'm more mad at the mumbling or just the fact that the track hasn't changed in 2 years. There's a lot of great tracks on V2, and it's more hip hop. Fried, Slide, Dead, Forever Rollin, River, My soul. V1 felt like more of a House album than hip hop. V2 seems to have higher highs, but lower lows than V1 and even though there's better singles, Vultures 1 feels like more of a coherent thought, V2 just feels like a bunch of bangers that didn't meet the V1 concept.

Donda was his last good album, incredibly emotionally charged. Mostly because he was fighting for his family in the name of his mother and charged by his rekindled faith. Everything hes doing now feels like hes fallen into this vapid divorce-core sound. It sound like hes given up and going though the motions. It sound like hes lost that spark and the things hes rapping about dont even sound important to himself.

The album is not for me. I feel like hes uninspired after Donda. A solo album would of been preferable. I feel like hes evading his ability to chop samples, rap, reproduce all the way through and refine and mix his music, that how we got his first 6 albums. If he goes away and lock in he would possibly have album of the year, but he wouldnt do that for some reason. Apparently he has a solo album done prod by him and erick sermon who also said he dont need anyone.

I’m a Kanye Stan and this album is bad. All the leaks of the songs he “reworked” were 20x better. He really destroyed Sky City, time moving slow, River and please for the love of god take that freestyle BS off at the end of 5:30! The leak version with the soulful singing in the beginning is soooooooo much better. Idk why ye be having perfect ass songs and then he goes and reworks them and totally messes the song up. He’s been doing this since Wolves. Like leave well enough alone bruh. I just think ye don’t wanna be perfect anymore. I think he thrives off imperfections and we’ll never get another mbdtf or anything close to it
