For Kaido It depends the ranks basically, being an officer in his crew is a very good position, being a simple soldier is very bad, Kaido respect his officers for their strenght and they are in return very loyal to him (he seem to have a special soft spot for King being his oldest ally, but also for Jack, Ulti and i assume PageOne because he raised them since they were kids ) the rank and file are just fodder to him tho, he would kill them without any reason

I think that's the reason that everyone on the big mom pirates looks up to Katakuri so much, not because he represents ultimate strength, but because he's the closest thing they have to someone who could beat big mom, or at least hold her off. Katakuri is very strong, and it seems like out of all her children Big Mom seems to "love|" Katakuri the most, letting him get away with taking Donut breaks, but if Big Mom ever did turn on her crew, then I figure the majority of the crew thinks they could trust Katakuri to hold her off for a little bit before she kills them all.

Oh yea, Doflamingo could've been emperor level if he was physically strong enough to take on an emperor but (fortunately for Luffy) he didn't excel at haki or have the durability to even be able to fight a commander on a yonko crew.

He had the entire island on lock with a 2nd in command revolutionary and an admiral who had to make a bet on Luffy, so let's say Luffy didn't have plot armor. The way oda wrote his character in wanting to be sniper like his father he’s not really meant to get bunch of power ups and his importance within the crew and the story itself he doesn’t need to get bunch of power ups. His character and his cowardice is meant to be like the comedic relief within the story so that it’s not always super serious within the crew and story. Though in last one piece that came out he able to tap into the same powerful observation haki that his father has and is known for and the movie itself isn’t canon but the haki abilities that shanks and his crew demonstrated are canon so more then likely at some point during the upcoming elbaf ark ussop will unlock the same advanced observation haki his father has and to be fair ussop is much stronger now post time skip then he was before the time skip. Being a sniper in the world of one piece doesn’t really give a lot opportunities for sniper characters to get bunch flashy power ups unless they eat devil fruit like the sniper on blackbeards crew who ate teleportation devil fruit. So yea I wouldn’t get to hung up about ussop not getting all sorts of flashy power ups it’s just not something his character or the actual story needs him to have him when you view everything from a logic point of view when taking into account his character and the over all one piece story.

And since most people rent these days rather than owning their own house, that's much closer to what's going on with Whole Cake imo.
