What's up guys! This is the first time I have reacted to a UK comedian and I absolutely loved him. I hope you enjoy watching me cry the whole video! All people should be able to distinguish when a person is genuinely talking shit to offend and when a person is sarcastically talking shit for a laugh. Well Done as that was a good reaction. The joke at the end was that "period" as you know,means "full stop" in America while it is the word in The UK for a Woman's Monthly Cycle and when she is,understandably,not interested she would say to a Man "FOOL STOP!" which is why he winked at "Neal" 😀 The comment about "Hot And Spicy Foods" and "Olympic Quality Athletes" relates to the large immigration to The Uk from Asia (Food) and The Caribbean(Athletes)...😀

Apart from how well educated Al Murray actually is(especially in history) the other amazing thing about his sets is he spends time interacting with the audience and has a really good memory when it comes to names and what that person does. He often refers back to them later in the set calling them by name. By the end of the set there can be 20+ ppl in the audience he's pulled into his act in some way 😂

My pleasure, I'm glad you appreciated it and got the humour. Some American content creators can get a little triggered by it, because they think he's having a go at the USA. In reality, we Brits take the piss out of anything and everything, but most of all ourselves. The pub landlord is a grotesque parody of the British jingoistic character, so more than anything he's taking the piss out of the British. Loved the video, well edited and entertaining... keep going and your talents and subs will increase. Check out Frankie Boyle... "Audience Annihilation", if you can get past the Glaswegian accent your jaw will be on the floor! 😂 BTW... it's pronounced "et-chay"... it's Latin so think Italian. It's a little philosophical joke of mine. Ecce homo means "behold the man" and was the title of Friedrich Nietzsche's autobiography. The Homer bit is from Homer Simpson... i.e. "behold Homer"... British self-deprecation again.

Don't wanna be pedantic (I'm gonna be pedantic) but classical Latin would not have been pronounced like modern Italian. You're thinking of church Latin. In the classical language that double c would have been pronounced as a hard k sound.

The original words as spoken by Pontius Pilate would have been spoken in either Hebrew or Greek, given that he was addressing the population of Jerusalem, most of whom wouldn't have spoken Latin.

That is not pedantry, it's intellectual blinkers.

I'm almost certain, for example, that Martin Luther King was not the first person in history to utter the phrase "I have a dream", but when that phrase is used as a quote it is invariably associated with him. Likewise with "ecce homo" - yes, of course there will have been Romans who used those words centuries before the Vulgate Bible, but it is from the use of those words in the Vulgate that the phrase has come to be used as a quote.

As someone who was dumb enough to get a front row seat at one of Al's shows and therefore had the piss taken out of me (ruthlessly, for what seemed like half the show)by a master of the art I will tell you he is one of the best. He is playing his alter ego character The Pub Landlord here. He can talk for over an hour just riffing off the audience, not many comedians can walk on stage without a set and still be this funny.

Glad you got the joke!. Al has been playing the Pub Landlord character for over 30 years now. In real life, he's totally the opposite and is a history graduate. He once took the Pub Landlord and stood in a real election against the likes of Nigel Farage & UKIP who he parodies. James - Don’t worry if you didn’t think you ‘reacted’ enough - videos like this are for watching along with you, kind of like watching something with a friend - I don’t mean that as weird as it sounds lol!!! I suspect there are quite a few British comedians you’ll like if you enjoyed Al Murray! Peter Kay is brilliant, Micky Flannagan is great, Sarah Millican is also really funny. I also love Russell Brand, but most people I know can’t stand him so he’s possibly an ‘squired taste’ lol! I might be biased as I’m Scottish, but I think we have the best comedians! Billy Connelly is the master, so so funny! Kevin Bridges is also great - I’m actually going to see him live next week, Frankie Boyle is good too - but can be really shocking so not for the easily offended! I’ve seen all of these comedians live quite a few times and they never disappoint, they are all from the same town as me too, so have been lucky to meet them all lots of times too and they were all lovely. (Although Billy Connelly lives in America, he still comes home a lot!). You’ll probably pick up UK humour really well because you’re already familiar with the accents from your UK reactions! Your reaction was good - continual interruption is annoying. Hot and spicey food - refers to all the delicious food (India, Far East, Middle East even African) around our former Empire from which we now benefit. Olympic athletes - refers to all those sports people of African descent who win medals for us. A while back we had a 4 man relay team - three of the guys were Black and the white guy was actually called Mr. Black! Once a month British women of a certain age have periods which is when they turn into werewolves (or as my ex husband said to my son, "we're going to live in the shed"). I never claimed and never will claim to be the smartest lol. Sometimes I get stuff wrong. Honestly I kind of agree with the guy, the American education system is horrible but he could have either not insulted me or if he was joking, could have added a lol after just to let me know that he was joking.
