Al Murray has a degree in history from Oxford. His stage persona is that of a pub landlord which you might find in certain areas of the UK.

He's also nobility. He's from one of the UKs most powerful aristocratic families (They hold the Duchy of Atholl, plus 12 lower titles), who command the only legal private military in Europe. And his grandmother comes from a family that were high up in the nobility of the Holy Roman Empire. Though in all fairness the current Duke isn't closely related to Al, they share a great-great-great-great grandfather.

This is Als 'stage persona "the pub landlord". At the beginning of each show he interacts with the audience, learns names and jobs/hobbies, the guy, Steve, he went to for the motes to "God Save the Queen" was the ex keyboard player in a well known punk band. When he messed up the notes and qalked away, he turned back and said "you made me look stupid then"!.

I moved to the UK over a decade ago and I love the English view of Americans. It is mostly generous...(like dealing with a special-needs person) they love us and want to kick our heads in lol :D

This is what Brits do. They tease you and it might seem insulting at first. But they do it because they like you. It's a way of removing any barriers with a joke. To be honest, we would welcome a similar response to complete the exercise. As others have said, he is a persona spouting rubbish a lot of the time. You're supposed to laugh at him, and not the people he's taking the mickey out of. Once you get that, it's not offensive.

al is a very educated historian, i beleive he studied at oxford. he has many along these lines, uk is cetnter of the world, nations of the world, and how the british are world war champions, never lost a war, great watching, catch you at the end of the video

Al is doing his PUB LANDLORD character from his TV show TIME GENTLEMEN PLEASE , about a pub. He, Al, is also a very knowledgeable man regarding history . PISSED in the UK = drunk. PISSED in the USA = angry. PERIOD in the UK = woman's monthly cycle. PERIOD in the USA = full stop at the end of a sentence.

Al Murray is great, but if you want to try another excellent British comedian, I can recommend Mickey Flanagan. His story, "To catch a peeper" will have you falling off your seat.

I don't think you got most of that. I don't think it was even the accent, I just don't think you're that tuned into the British sense of humour. You missed pretty much all of his little jokes in between the jokes... and most of the jokes. American comics fire jokes out: set up, punchline. Set up, punchline. British comics make jokes that are more nuanced and can seem like just conversation or filler between jokes, but they're actually jokes too.

There have being earthquakes in Britain I slept through one when the second one happened it felt like I was being rocked to sleep. A number of years ago he did a series on Discovery Channel called Al Murray’s Road to Berlin he drove around in a willys jeep he talked to veterans as well as visiting the battfields. Recently he was with historian James Holland doing podcasts in France or somewhere on the continent. Al Murray has a history degree from Cambridge University.

These comedians tend to use a lot of British-isms, much of which you won't even hear when you come over and speak to people on your travels. You WILL however meet with widely different accents as you travel round the country, but this also depends on how many people you yourself will be wanting to speak to.
