For your information, emergency service radios (Tetra Sepura) are highly highly encrypted. They are impossible(not a exaggeration) to hack. The government have spent billions to encrypt them and recently a backdoor was discovered and was quickly closed. Im not a expert on it but there’s lots of videos on YT about just how insanely secure they are.

Only 2 people managed to crack it on the top of my head, its very hard. You need a Key to get into the network. Police dispatch can see how many radio units are connected to the network and can also kill them manually through a computer if it gets into the wrong hands. So, technically absolutely impossible to crack for anyone apart from Motorola

Once you know enough about encryption, including understanding how keys work, it is always only a matter of time and resources to decrypt ANYTHING at ANY encryption level - regardless of having keys or not. If you want an eye-opening primer, look up the Snowden disclosures and the (what was back then) 5 Eyes Program... There's some Gov (NSA) buildings on a Hawaiian island that have some secrets about what they've been up to for years. Ultimately, this is why quantum computing is so desirable - current approaches to decrypt (eg 256-SHA) take a lot of time and resources so not everyone can easily achieve it - quantum computing changes that and removes the limiting aspects of decryption. Most normal people would be shocked to find out that nothing encrypted is safe in reality given enough time/resources for brute-force approaches. Enjoy the rabbit hole 👍

You can not listen to police radios at all they are fully encrypted radios running Tetra radio waves. It has been hacked but unfortunately the police and other service change encryption regular and you would never be able to decode such. It's very very very secure. Now security that use digital radios are easier to decode and listen to with the right radio equipment. Maybe I could show you and some other KZbinrs a better way to listen to more one day and demonstrate the wonderful world of listening to alot more equipment that more and more are using.
