Agreed, amex is pulling the same strategy that extreme priced clothing brands in your local mall pull. They aren't targeting wealthy people, wealthy folks wear quality clothes that are unbranded and stealth wealth by preference, then poor people waste their money on those fancy brands because they think that's what being rich is. Platinum is feeling like the same thing lately.

Yep I think so for sure what you both said, I think largely because Amex just is so non-exclusive, and with anybody virtually being approved for a platinum, really leads to more and more inexperienced people getting the card. Amex Concierge service rocks! They planned an entire daddy-daughter trip for me to NYC. Dinner reservations, Beauty and the Beast on Broadway tickets, etc. They noticed seats were available on the first row of the balcony and advised not to think about those seats too long because they're the best bang-for-the-buck view. They know their stuff. Ultimate professionals. Another time, they got me in the new Centurion restaurant in NYC within weeks of it opening up. 100% sure your card is not going away, and you're not the only freak fan of this card. It's my favorite card I rarely use.

Major video! Thank you for not recycling the same info you always hear about the card. I love to use the concierge about 2-3 days before I go to a new city. They are able to give me a list of hidden gems so I go where the locals go. Bars, restaurants, speakeasy’s etc.

Platinum only make sense if you spend at least $10k on flights annually, but preferably 20k. That way you are already getting at least $500 - $1,000 value from the points earning. The additional coupon credits are just cherry on top

I guess my notification of an overseas transaction that I did not authorize on my now closed AMEX every day card is nothing compared to this. Mine was a billing situation, and his was concierge. As of now, in the two years I’ve been with American Express, their customer service is amazing. I joined Amex on February 14 of 2022 so I just made two years. Their customer service is amazing. I started off with the green card and now I have the gold card, I do it’s the three 3X on cruises on green, but the credits are garbage. I have more useful the ones on gold.

Nice pick up! And it doesn’t have a preset spending limit actually so you won’t see a number and it won’t be reported to your credit report! But you will have a “pay over time” limit you can see in the app under card details. Thanks KCD!

I dunno I watched some of the cancellation videos circulating, each made a pretty compelling case with 4-5 reasons, well thought out with numbers broken down. Having someone only spam check for reservation availability 3 weeks in advance I guess is cool...but as the sole reason explored for *never* cancelling might loose some cred here lol

Hahaha I’m only speaking on my experience. I used to, but cancelled my original platinum. Yeahh that for sure sucks, I think it depends, if I knew I’d go to 4 lounges per year with her, then the AU makes sense, but that requires a bit of planning. Thanks Cody! @@AnthonyVenture ahh gotcha, for me it’s mainly trying to justify the fee. Some of the credits I wouldn’t use so I don’t think I’d break even. Thinking the lounge would help, but my wife always travels with me so then I gotta spend more money to get her in :/

@@AnthonyVenture lol. I had the platinum for 20 years. It was ok, never managed to get concierge to wow me. Glad it paid off for you. In retrospect getting value from it almost felt like a 2nd job. Ok if you have more time than money. I moved onto Chase cards and life just got a lot simpler.
