one thing everyone seems to be overlooking about the Packer's development on offense is the simple improvement of the receivers. Since week 9, the amount of dropped passes has dropped through the floor. Its a lot easier to have a good passer rating when your receivers actually catch the ball when it hits their hands. Even more importantly, it took quite a while before they got their routes in their head. You can watch through the early games in the series and time after time it is evident that 1 or more receivers was not on the same page as Love. If you're expecting a down and out, you throw the ball and the receiver curls in, it is irrelevant how well you've thrown the ball. Part of this is communication, which has clearly improved, and part of it is just practice and repetition.

It’s been a crazy ride as a Green Bay fan this season but man has it become a fun one! Seeing improvement from nearly every single player on the offensive side is just incredible. I remember early on there were talks that GB might need to get a WR in round 1 next year (even I was thinking it to some extent), but now there are 5 guys on roster who could all be quality starters and have been playing like them (Watson, Doubs, Reed, Wicks and melton, even Malik Heath an UDFA this year is contributing in a positive way) and the craziest part is, is that their all first and second year guys. Give credit to MLF and Love, but what’s happening with the growth and development of this young core is something that has never been done or seen before. Not to mention then Tuckers Krafts absurdly rapid development, musgrave kept getting better and better each week before he got hurt, Ben Simms another rookie UDFA has provided a positive impact. Zach Tom has solidified himself as the future RT. Rasheed Walker who was a 7th round pick in 2022 has been very productive and I think is the LT of the future in GB. The defense pains me, but with a plethora of picks and a hope for a new DC next year thinks could change in a heart beat. To sum everything up and I apologize for the essay, but from a player development standpoint, this season has gone past what was originally considered best case scenario, it’s absolutely phenomenal and has been fun to watch.
@drewreview249911 ай бұрын
I would perfer to trade for a wr although we lack star power so it would definitely have to be during free agency or have to give up draft picks, the whole thing about our team is that we're young adding a vet wr could build everyone around him and be productive instead of adding another rookie that may take more time to develop
@josephlaeger647311 ай бұрын
@drewreview2499 If the Packers deemed getting a vet wasn’t needed this year, why would they deem it necessary to acquire one next year? This team may not have a “star” yet but they have 3 players in my mind who have that potential in Wicks, Reed, and Watson. Then the problem too if you’re going to sign or trade for a “star” you’re going to give assets up in the draft that you’re going to NEED for defense, and then in both situations you’re going to have to pay them star money which is just going to handcuff roster building at position of actual need.

Really feared we'd spend most of the season watching the equivalent of that '21 game against KC, and we HAVE had sightings of that player this season. But if you look over the body of work from beginning to end this year the progression is what jumps out. From this vantage point it's clear he's methodically marched from decided second stringer to elite NFL QB.
@josephlaeger647311 ай бұрын
Think the biggest thing for me that didn’t have me concerned that it was gonna be a season of the 21 game was the Philly game in 22. The poise and calmness you saw in him vs 21. I knew something had changed and from the mental side of it he was gonna be better off than 21. I didnt however expect him to perform this well and this calm. If there is one thing I’ll say about Love is he looks more poised than some guys who have been I. The league longer than him or have more playing time under their belts. Ironically there is nothing to not Love about Love, sure he’s had his bumps in the road this season as you pointed out, but I feel like the signs have been there and pointing to him playing well. Didn’t expect it to be this good though and this soon!
@raheppe11 ай бұрын
It's the play calling and offensive design. There is a reason the Shanahan coaching tree of Kyle, McVay, LaFleur, McDaniels, the dude for the Bengals (Zach Brown, I think) and the Texans coordinator have all had success no matter who their qb is. They find out what they are good at, they design plays around that. The exception was Rodgers, he is good at everything and he actually implemented his ideas with Lafleur. They tried running a lot of that early this season but Love can't stretch the field with a seam or 9 route, he misses constantly. So he built it around things he does well. He has added wrinkles that he never used before. He uses a te in motion where the ball is snapped while the te is still moving, a copy of his buddy McDaniel and what he does with Tyreek Hill. This is a brilliant coach, but yes, Love is playing well. He's just gotta throw to open dudes though, haha. I don't think he's thrown a single player open all year or hit a tight window over 20 yards. There might be a few, but it ain't common. I compare his skill set to Goff (he happens to play for another brilliant play caller that also designed an offense to cater to Goff because he struggles with the exact same stuff).
@raheppe11 ай бұрын
I stand corrected. Stafford is also elite and I am certain he has incorporated his ideas with McVay. Stroud is likely also elite IMO but doesn't have experience to do that. So, out of all the success that those guys have had, they've only ever coached two elite qb's. That's it. Love is not elite, he can't 'make all the throws'. These coaches have success because they are brilliant at scheming. Love's best ability then is to not force much of anything and to protect the ball while operating the great play calling. Lafleur found what throws he is accurate and will let rip and how to clear it out so there are clear lanes for him or he won't throw it.

To this day I will forever argue that QB's have a higher ceiling when they sit and observe a quality QB in front of them, even if it's just for a single season, which is why I argued the Colts should've kept Manning one more year to mentor Luck, but I digress. Yes, obviously not every team can do that, especially in the modern NFL where it's so important to win while your QB is on his rookie deal before he becomes crazy expensive. But the ability to observe and learn from a veteran is invaluable. Brett Favre looked at Aaron Rodgers like a mutt and took no part in mentoring him, yet despite this Aaron has given Brett verbal bouquets and said if not for those seasons behind Favre, he wouldn't be the QB he is today. Unlike Favre, Rodgers actually took a more active role in mentoring Love and showing him the ropes and Love has echoed Rodgers, saying watching, learning and observing was invaluable to him.

I'm not a big fan of lafleur I think he is severely overrated. He is a big reason why we were 3-6 to begin with. He completely took the ball out of loves hands and when he realized it was killing this team and he had no choice but to take the lease off love is when this team started performing
@williamhermann663511 ай бұрын
@@donsolos Nonsense. They were 3-6 cuz they lost Bakhtiari, Jones, Watson, and Jenkins all in the first couple of games. With a team that was already young to begin with, they lost every veteran they had on offense plus the #1 receiver. Not sure what Lafleur was supposed to do with that.

Going into the season i had the Packers win total over/under at 7. And i thought that would be considered a successful year. For them to get 9 and get into the playoffs with that young of a team is amazing. Imagine if they can keep all of those weapons on offense together for 5+ years. They could look alot like those late 90s early 2000s Rams teams with better tight ends and thats scary.

Of course the NFL is mad. The Packers broke the golden rule: They drafted, sat and developed a QB naturally. This is why it keeps happening there. They fully understand how to develop a QB. They started him once last year against the Chiefs. Terrible game. They put him on ice, worked on the flaws., and Voila!!!! It took 9 weeks to figure out his roster, to gel. Once that happened, it was bombs away. The right way. Its almost disgusting. You saw a team rebuild an entire unit in 9 weeks. Best staff in the NFL.

Love what we got going on both sides of the ball this season. The offense evolved as the season progressed you could see them open up the playbook offensively and fully letting Jordan Love do his thing. While the play calling on defense has been very vanilla at times, the personnel is good enough to win it all. I’m confident the Packers will handle business against Big Mike’s Cowboys, and hoping the 49ers get rusty during the bye week. =S

I felt a win in Dallas was a certainty all last week. Not THAT BIG of a win but I just knew they were going to win. I felt Dallas was way over rated team who had a fairly soft schedule this year and didn't play good teams well. I don't have that same feeling versus the 49ers. HOWEVER, seeing how well they played versus Dallas defensively, it certainly begs the thought ANYTHING is possible now. Will the 49ers bring this team back to reality with its big play offense. We will see. I expect perhaps another shoot out of top tier offenses this Saturday. With the last possession maybe being the winner take all.

Look it up. Love had better stats than Favre and Rodgers in their first full season/s with the Pack. Just saying... As a 62 year old life long Packers fan from Wisconsin, this is very encouraging and hopefully an indicator of things to come! Youngest team in the league ever to make the playoffs. That in itself makes this season a winner regardless if they lose to Dallas. Would love to see them pull off the upset and beat their old coach McCarthy.

He was under rated when he was finding his way. He was losing a few games and throwing a few picks and everyone immediately said oh he sucks, in spite of the ability showing up even in those losses. Obviously premature. Now that he has found his footing, everyone in Chicago, Minnesota, and Detroit are beside ourselves.
