Hi Jamie. Apologies for the delay. I've been away. The accepted pronunciations of the words come form the UK Government mark scheme. They do not include the 'k' sound as in chord. Personally I'd mark the latter sound correct if I was sure it was not a guess at the pronunciation. The ch sound as in chain is much more common and I guess that is why they only include that variant. Does this help? All the best, Brian

Thanks Brian! Useful to know thanks. My daughter was doing the test for fun and pronounced it with the K sound first - not being very au fait with phonics I mustn't have sounded convinced so she tried with a 'ch' - but thankfully she held her ground and was adamant the K sound was also OK, prompting me to investigate.

Hello. Sorry it’s an old video so maybe nobody to reply 🙈 but there are 39 words here not 40? I may be wrong but I did go back and watch again 🙈

Thank you Kate. You are correct! This video has had 19K views and no one has spotted this but you. The missing word is 'trails'. Maybe I'll redo the video if we have another lockdown! Take care, Brian.

Thank you for your kind words. Makes all the work worthwhile! Did you see that I also have assessments for Phases 2, 3 and 5? I use them to see what sounds the learner should revise next. I also have some recording sheets if these would be useful.

Hope you found it useful! There are videos on the channel to teach the sounds that the test flags up.

I am sorry you think that. It's down to personal preference I suppose.
