@@iamkhan1012 I used medify. I averaged 2800-2900 on medify but this was only towards the last two weeks. I started off with scores like 2400-2500. I used the UCAT website and found Mock D most representative of the exam. I felt that the exam was easier than medify but take this with a pinch of salt because everyone has a different UCAT experience. Good luck if you haven't done it yet. You will smash it. Thank you so much Nouman for the video! the most awaited QnA from all of us year 13s, I am so glad you covered everything but I had a question in regards with how you managed to balance both y12 and y13 content, like would you allocate this many days in a week or just the weekends or so on to review y12 content, whilst staying on-top of y13, as it's not been long into y13 and I already feel the pace picking up really fast, and don't want to fall behind with both the old and new content, do you have any advice?
@NoumanSami4 ай бұрын
Make reviewing y13 content ur priority, but I'd say that as of right now, make sure that at least once a week you go over a topic from y12 in every one of your subjects, as the year progresses you should start doing more and more and focusing on doing exam questions on those topics because by now you should know them pretty well - if there's a y12 topic you know you've forgotten, prioritise going over that as soon as you can.

Thanks so much!! Tbh, procrastination is inevitable, I think for me what I've done to help is try and use an app on my phone (forest) to dedicate specific hours when I'd work and so I'd know when to mess around and when to actually focus, it makes the time you spend having fun, a lot more fun, and the time you spend working much more efficient

Good video mashallah for the younger generation going into yr13. Could you do a video on preparing for uni?
@NoumanSami4 ай бұрын
I mean what's there to prepare for
@EyadRizk4 ай бұрын
In all honesty, do you think one of the reasons you managed to do really well is because of your natural intelligence? Even though I got all 9s at GCSE I feel like I won’t de well in a levels or ucat primarily because I think my intelligence levels are disgusting… I had to work so hard for countless hours to compensate for this during gcses but do you think a levels require both high intelligence + hard work?
@NoumanSami4 ай бұрын
This is a really fair point, the thing is I feel that I don't have that much natural intelligence, I've just been someone who puts a lot of hard work into everything. I believe that if you want something and you put the hard work for it, it's possible, but it might just be harder for some people than others. I personally don't really have that natural intelligence, but I can keep myself consistent and hardworking to achieve my goals, that's how I look at it I guess. I know that if my hard work goes down even slightly, that my performance in exams etc. starts dropping. I've never been one of those kids who just happen to do well without revising.
@horseshoe123-n6g4 ай бұрын
Nouman did you have chemistry and biology lectures once every week/two weeks during a levels and what did you do in them? was it like different talks that you had to sit and listen to mostly or was it more interactive? also did a lot of people in your year who chose further maths decide to drop it after a few months of seeing the workload or did most keep it?
@NoumanSami4 ай бұрын
yeah we had lectures once every two weeks, they were completely useless icl, most of the time they'd just recap stuff we covered in lesson, so it was just socialising time for me :D I know a lot of people who dropped fm and also a lot of ppl who kept it for y12 then dropped it in year 13, but most people kept it even when the workload was bad

I read “the Oath: memoirs of a Chechen Surgeon” by Khassan Baiev. He was a Chechen surgeon during the Chechen wars and he describes his life in the book. It’s one of the best things I’ve read and I would definitely recommend, but do you think it could be mentioned on a personal statement as it’s not about the NHS or British medicine but Russia/Chechnya.

hey Nouman was your biology residential trip to Shrewsbury compulsory and was it a part of your assessed practicals? Also how important are practicals in biology that are being assessed by the teacher?
@NoumanSami4 ай бұрын
No it wasn't compulsory, just a fun way to carry out a few required practicals, we also had the choice to go to the local park and carry out the same practicals there. The practicals are required in order for you to pass the practical endorsement, but it's something that everybody manages to pass, you just have to be on top of writing up every write up and whatever and you'll be fine, it's all pretty lenient tbh. You could slack around for all of the first half of the year and then quickly get it done in the last couple weeks if you wanted to (I know ppl who did this and still passed, but I don't recommend cos it's a bit of a headache)

Thats a really long commute tbh, I don't know much about Brampton Manor so I can't really tell you if it's worth it, but you should get a feel when you actually go, but I'm just saying that the long commute is gonna take up a lot of your day so it will force you to manage your time really efficiently or you'll fall behind fast.

Hi, I had a question. Are reading books for personal statement something well known or is it mainly for medicine students as I’ve never heard of such a thing? Also, would you say exam practice for maths is better than using the books? The questions is the book can be good but it just gets too boring a lot of the time.
@NoumanSami4 ай бұрын
Reading books is something a lot of courses have, tbh I recommend it more if you're going for oxbridge/any uni that will require an interview, but it's definitely not a must. Personally, for maths, I used the textbook to understand how to do the topic, but then I mainly did exam practise to get better with my actual problem solving and knowing when to use which skills. So I recommend exam Qs more tbh
