you just have to put in the effort and maybe just maybe go to a school, i joined music school when i was 14 and even a couple of years later i was still not as good as some 13yos, there were some kids that were just built different, but it wasnt bad, it was fun and also humbling, anyway, if you go to any school you'll see its not uncommon to see youngsters being absolute fire in theory, especially the ones who focus solely on it and on a single instrument, different from a DAW dwelling producer. edit: i say "maybe just maybe" cuz nowadays it kinda isnt mandatory as it was like 50 years ago.

Pretty nice, has a vibey feel despite the limited drum part. If I where you I would look into piano arrangement a little bit as some of the higher register stacked chords where not “properly” arranged. Still sounds good for sure but you have room for some varied instrumentation if you get the chance. This would also give you more options for mixing and production and panning. Just a little advice from a random ding dong on the internet you can take it or leave it up to you. 👍

Yknow, ive always heard this meme surrounding music theory that people who end up learning it hate the music they compose, so for you I hope this is not the case! Ive contemplated learning music theory at a later point in life, but the narrative that surrounds music theory gives me conflicted feelings about it. What's your perspective on music theory? Did seeing your music composition skills improve help you enjoy the process more,? or was the process of improving intrinsically satisfying on its own? the way we view the fruits of our labor can change when you have the perspective of what it took to get their. Overall, I liked this song, and I hope that as time continues the music you make begins to further contextualize the way you express yourself and the meaning you take from what you make.

this shi nice but it wouldve been cool if you did other music theory stuff like common cadence or references or polyrhythms or types of rythms or like styles/articulations&dynamics, and like other shi cuz that would go crazy. even the adjustment of volume is music theory or like different scales like ionian or blues and like 1391093019 more

Any tips on how to learn and start? I'm interested but I'm not sure how to begin
@FrinkyMusic
@FrinkyMusic Ай бұрын
It depends on the genre you are doing but starting with a piano is pretty reliable. You can get some keyboards for pretty cheap, got my first for $20 dollars and its where I started. The piano is vital to learning music theory as it is what is used to visualize notes. Having a DAW helps too but is far from mandatory for learning, I find FL studio is more friendly to compositions as opposed to beats than some other DAWs and FL is free without saving which is good enough for atleast learning. The final thing is finding your source of education. If you are a student in school you should always look at your music program if it exists and pretty much no matter the subject, formal education will be your best FOR STARTING. If there is no formal options available to you KZbin is your best bet. "In The Mix" will introduce you to FL Studio but he is more sound engineering oriented. "Guy Michelmore" is a great youtuber for learning the basics of composition and melody writing and he does some introductory theory stuff. You can also get good results just by searching "music theory" or "introductory music theory" or "beginner music theory" The final thing I would suggest is using Musescore. It is free and great for learning and uses a sheet music setup instead of a piano roll which is great for a focus on music theory when writing. Though I find that Musescore causes the production process to be super slow and clunky and it is super limiting, I find that it has a lot less support from its developers than most other DAWs. I have found that conceptually jazz theory is the hardest to learn, and while this piece mainly focuses one instrument which simplifies the process a bit, don't expect to be writing jazz quickly. Depending on the rate at which you learn you may well end up making songs that are barely listenable for years. But if you stick with it for a while you will get a great new form of expression. I hope you do step into music as it's a great thing. Good luck!
