just also saying, Alonso's Kers usage down the kammel straight vs Hamilton back in 2013 is superb as well, he waited till Lewis to get out of his slipstream but despite the fact Lewis had DRS on him, he kept Lewis behind via the superier top speed of his Ferrari as well as the smart usage of the KERS butten

Fernando 2013 is so underrated... If not for his mistake in Malaysia ( crash that led to a broken front wing) and the tire change he would be up there fighting against Vettel. F1 for some reason really made us fans mis some beautifull racing from Fernando. More skilled than the whole pack imho

The best decisions are picking Red Bull and Mercedes. Thats literally it, he went for Ferrari instead of Red Bull which is not a bad decision because its Ferrari, and after that Mercedes seats were locked up. If Honda actually made a decent engine everyone would be praising him for the Mclaren move, if Red Bull last year didnt build such a rocketship for Max he would have won a couple races and this narrative is over. Its a stupid thing everyone likes to parrot because they feel smart saying it.

@michaelredford53895 ай бұрын
KERS was a better system in my opinion and we've lost a lot of tactics in F1 overtaking now because the DRS is the main method of passing because it's so powerful. When these cars didn't have as much downforce, the Dr's wasn't as strong so the KERS being used to defend and attack was by far the more interesting tool. It was also better to watch the graphic of the battery for both drivers and see how differently they used it on a lap. I'd much rather the new power units in 2026 have a sort of passive hybrid mode that works like it does now (but is less powerful. Like there is no PEAK mode, just a normal mode) and then you have a boost/overcharge mode which you can use for 7 seconds per lap, when ever you want, like KERS. It's not making it gimmicky like formula E because F1 did it first.

It makes sense, because you use the straight to get on the back of the car and with 3 low speed corners after it the Dirty air hasn't understeered you away from them yet so your prime to attack.
@TEMPLE7D5 ай бұрын
No no no lol. Look at the whole “derate” thing. The cars drop speed at the end of a straight whenever the driver selects a lean fuel mixture. Notice his right hand turns a knob just before the speed drops? In F1 games, the same happens. Rich fuel mixture on the straight, then you change to lean in the corners to save fuel/ have better traction.
