They had to lift the RB6's gearbox higher so it can have more air from the underfloor for the double diffuser, that's channeled the air out and exit right in front of the exhaust, accelerating the air even more and generating more downforce from the already strong double diffuser and the fast moving air also created a suction area over the exit of the normal diffuser and help suck the air out from the normal diffuser to generate even more downforce. It's a crazy car and if i'm not mistaken, 2018 was the one who can match the RB6 high speed cornering performance. They had to make the car bigger with more crazy wings and complex aero just to have the same high speed performance of the RB6, while RB6 is shorter and smaller with less complicated aero and wing. 2010 f1 cars are the perfect formula, it's fast in high speed corner and agile in low speed corner.

Aaaand it is full circle. In 2010 these cars were regarded as the ugliest ever in F1 history (2009 onwards to be exact. Until 2016) Nostalgia is very potent. It will be like this 15 years from now. People will say the Ferrari F1 from 2022 and 2023 was the most beautiful racing car ever made as it is nice to look at today but there is not enough praise on its lines. When FIA lift the F1 cars nose after 94, it was received as a horrible thing as well. This will continue forever.

I had a university teacher who worked for the McLaren F1 team for 4 years, 2007-2010. He told us that Turkey's 4-apex corner is the most G-loaded corner ever to appear in the F1 calendar. So much so that teams had to design unique, extra strong pieces for the suspension, only used for this track, just because of this corner. Otherwise, taking the corner flat-out would break the ''regular'' suspension setup. Quite incredible to see Seb take it like nothing happened.

@ryanjonathanmartin3933

@jurekgadzinowski2895 Vettel lost three probable wins through no fault of his own in 2010. Literally the first race of season in Bahrain, Vettel was leading comfortably and then all of sudden a freaking gearbox failure sends him down to 4th while Alonso leads a Ferrari 1-2. Australia, again leading comfortably from pole, before a brake failure throws him into the gravel. Then Korea, leading comfortably again from pole, and then an alternator failure hands Alonso a free win. The titles Vettel threw away were 2009 and probably 2018 as well (2017 also if we're stretching it). That's about it to be honest.
@sandalphoncpu
@sandalphoncpu Жыл бұрын
@@ryanjonathanmartin3933 I mostly agree with 2009, but Vettel would’ve lost the title in 2018 regardless if he didn’t make mistakes due to how dominant the Mercedes were after Monza. In fact, majority of the points were lost by Ferrari’s terrible strategies since Hungary, but people love to see the obvious and not question Ferrari’s questionable decisions throughout the season. 2017 Hamilton lost far more points with his mistakes than Vettel’s and the fact Bottas challenged Vettel for wins when Hamilton was P4 or lower was the prove of that. He was so consistent that if his PUs didn’t fail, he could still win the title despite the DNF in Singapore. Those who even thought of blaming Vettel for his lost in 2017 should see a psychologist. That’s how far the stretch really is

However, this is all subject to opinion as no one knows how much downforce either car produced as the data like that is kept confidential to the teams as intellectual property etc. No one truly knows unless they worked at RB in 2014 in a high up position and Mercedes in 2020 in a high up position. The RB6 honestly is one of the few defining cars of the V8 era. The car on fast corners was glued to the track and on slow corners quite agile.

@vernerikerppola4438 nobody was talking in the corners. Drs makes a difference even more so coz the DRS became more powerful in the wider cars ( 2017 onwards) and the V6 Turbo Hybrids being way more powerful anyways

Macchina impressionante l'RB6. Se l'avessero dotata di un sistema di scarico evoluto come la RB7 avrebbe disintegrato la resistenza fisica di parecchi piloti. Una delle mie vetture preferite in assoluto.

As much as RB6 is great at cornering, they lack the power, the straight line speed, and the reliability. People love to say Vettel and Webber underperformed that season, but in reality, they have the least powerful PU on the grid, have the worse drag on the grid, and have the least reliable PU. Tire deg is the worse outta the top 3 teams over the course of the season which made the car a lot less competitive on race trim. It’s that very complex variable that made the 2010 season so enjoyable. No teams have the clear best package over the course of a season, and literally anything could happen at the moments notice.

Yes and all the car on the grid at the time equipped those two things, just that Red Bull first developed it to perfection before others did catch up throughout the season It was not like Merc 2020 have all the luxury to be the only one using DAS system while others simply didn't have financial budget & limit on time to copy them, given them an unfair advantages on getting into the heat of the front tyres with ease🤷‍♂️
