To all the young "G's" who idolize the street light, you better take in what comes with it. Notice at 9:35-9:45 who he said he called. His baby mother, then his mother. Ain't called his #1 goon, or boys at the club that he was just with. When it really comes dwn to it, you know whats important and who is. This shit ends two ways, and neither is a good look.

I have to be the first DJ whoever played a Yella Beezy track in a club. I was the DJ at DGs back in 2012. DGs is like Dallas version of Magic City. Yella was dating one of the waitresses up there. I really ain't have no bond with him. Dude wasn't even old enough to get in the club back then. Lol. But every DJ need a good waitress he can depend on to run an errand for him from time to time, so I would hook her up by playing this dude's song. I had a reputation for playing local artist's songs. To be honest, I ain't seen Beezy coming out like this, but I probably didn't consider how young he was. I would say his stuff at the time was average, but considering how young he was at the time that would make his stuff above average for his age. I gotta say. Even back then... hell, I remember I was having dinner with one of the Dallas Mavs, and he asked me "Why ain't the music scene any bigger in Dallas? This is a big city". I just told him what all these local artists had been telling me, which was there's too much hating in Dallas. It ain't like another city where somebody come up, and then they reach down to help pull up the next artist. Last year I actually sent Beezy a DM, he still followed me on Twitter, he never hit me back tho. I was trying to get a new spot going. It felt like he ain't remember the love I use to show him. All that said, this is to my people from the 214. Yella Beezy is our Bun B. We ain't got too many like him. I've talked to the man a few times, and I didn't get a malicious vibe off of him, so I don't see why these bullets need to be flying. We don't need to be running him out our city. That's fucking crazy. There should be no where in the world this man is safer than right here in Dallas, Texas. Point blank.
@Ranikia8886 жыл бұрын
I'm an artist and I started recording my first tape in Dallas I lived there like 3 years and OG DUB & Quint Black helped me. Dub pointed me in the right directions in terms of studios and connections. And Quint took me under his wing and taught me how to develop my skill. I just ain't never seen the hate or crab in a bucket mentality in Dallas . Shit I'm from cali and I wouldn't be no where if it wasn't for Dallas real nigga shit & I was in the heart of south Dallas off carpenter ave and Oak Cliff off waco the hood frfr I got so much love for the D they made me respect Texas (to some extetent, I've seen so much hoe shit down here is crazy) rns. Since your a dj check out my tape I might have some shit you like. mymixtapez.com/album/191315
@JoshuaFrick36 жыл бұрын
@@Ranikia888 So I had this thing or idea really... I started off at the Palace, then XTC, (well I started at White clubs first), but those 2 were hip hop strip clubs (to give it a name), and I saw what Yella was talking about. Getting your song hot by having a dancer ask the DJ to dance it. Matter fact, that's one of the first things I told his gf when she asked me to play Yella's song for her. Maybe he got that idea from me, Idk... Anyways, when I went to DGs they started me off on Tues nights & shit was whack b/c Onyx was doing $2 Tuesdays and blowing us out of the water on that night. So, I had literally everyone & their grandmother bringing me mixtapes (like you just dropped me that link), and I was like man what am I going to do with this? At a hip hop strip club even playing some Pac is considered whack most nights because it's all about what is hot like *right now* everything is about the music. If I'm playing shit people don't know then I ain't shit. I can't do suicide like that... but I wanna help an up & coming artist too... So, I got this idea to have all the local artists bring me their songs & I'd play them on Tuesday nights, IF they brought 5 people with them. I think it was like every 5 people they brought with them, I'd play another one of their songs. I had some local artists bringing like 20 people up there for me, and we started being competitive with Onyx on Tuesday nights. I had weekly meetings. Every Sunday night at the Hooters downtown, all them artists was invited, and we talking about how we could expand. How we could help each other, etc... Man, I reached out to Dorrough Music, but that dude never hit me back. Ever... Matter fact, I reached out to Yella, but he wasn't interested either. I think his girl told me that he was already connected with somebody else. Ain't that some shit? Ask me to play your song, at literally the hottest club in Dallas for that music (and I was on Saturday nights too), but then don't want to have nothing to do with what I'm trying to set up???... I reached out to a lot of people, and I did have some people reach back. T-Cash rolled through DGs one night, and I talked him for a minute. Played his new single. I talked to a couple other people too, but to be honest. It wasn't this attitude like we gonna help each other. It was this attitude like "nah, fool what do I need you for? (by the way, peep my new single). Like do for me, but I won't do for you. And, that's why Dallas music sucks & continues to suck. I just hope Yella Beezy does something to change that, and I really hope whatever fucking moron(s) that was shooting his car up don't set our game back 20 years. Jesus Christ. This dude represents the Triple D. Why you from Dallas and trying to take our biggest artist out? If you have Dallas in your heart, you wouldn't be doing that shit.
@JoshuaFrick36 жыл бұрын
To be fair, all of this was back in 2012 & 2013, so maybe things have changed. But, I was in the game last year, 2017, and I reached out to Yella at that time. That was actually the first time I realized he wasn't just one of the 50 dudes who use to ask me to play his mixtape. Like he was an actual artist now. I had girls that didn't know him asking me for his songs. But, he ain't hit me back then either. I had reached out to dude who produced Bodak Yellow, J White, and asked him to come up to my new club. Pandoras. But, he ain't hit me back either. And both these dudes I was talking about paying them an appearance fee, which I ain't have to do, but I'm just nice like that, and neither one of them even returned my call. Like I heard back from J White through his people. So, I would say there's still plenty of room for the Dallas music scene to become more of a brotherhood, but I do like hearing that you came to Dallas & dudes was willing to help ya out. Also, I'll check out your mixtape & let ya know what I think.
