Now that I'm older, got a music degree, and learned about what is out there, her album of jazz standards are some of best versions ever done.

Listening to Linda in this interview makes me LOVE HER EVEN MORE - - - if that is even possible. imo No other female singer comes close to her ability to make a song just ZING. She could make you happy one minute then make you cry the next. Female singers today - 1990 to now (2020) - are mere shadows of those singers from BEFORE VOICE ALTERING TECHNOLOGY and lip synching on stage. Close seconds to LINDA RONSTADT from yesteryear are (imo) BARBRA STREISAND, BETT MIDLER (spelling?), KAREN CARPENTER and who?

Linda was truly one of kind. No one thinks like her and lord knows no one could sing like her. A rare bird in the superstar celebrity swamp. She walked away by choice from the hype - more interested in the songs she wrapped those pipes around. She's still unusual and had an effect on men and boys and gals back in the day that seemed so natural and unforced. That is why she remains beloved by fans and fellow musicians.
@unamckillen71259 жыл бұрын
Your comment so, for me, sums her up; so accurate. She was one of a kind. She was quirky and loved the songs she sang more than anything. She was beautiful and, as I said to my brother the other night, she was on the road for 10 years so, of course, there were men; possibly more than the average. She did not marry her high school boyfriend and stay in Tucson so she had relationships. As she once said herself, "women are not quite so ready to "take up the slack" with anyone who passes through the dressing room". (I think she was possibly referencing The Eagles as men who do.) Still, she must have got lonely and may, every now and again have "taken up the slack." If she did, none of those men are talking and all her fellow musicians really respect her (Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Andrew Gold etc etc) At heart she was a woman who loved music, really liked other women and was a loyal friend and wanted to be a mother (she made that happen without a man). I hugely admire her.

For modern day female vocalists from my generation that started in the 1960s when elec rock n roll started I'm 70 now seen a lot done alot for me sitting at the top for queens of that era both are tied for 1st place for wat they did for longer than most style,talent looks longevity nobody's accomplished more than Linda Ronstadt & Tina Turner their both @ the top

When I started collecting records back in the early/mid-70s my local record store posted regular poll survey results and best female vocalist was almost always Linda Ronstadt. Sometimes Olivia Newton John, but otherwise it was just Linda Linda Linda, and I couldn't have agreed more. What a voice!

She is adorable! I wish Johnny would have engaged her in her line of conversation more instead of making faces and changing the subject. (Maybe that's why she didn't come back more?) She sounded intelligent and thoughtful while Johnny seemed like he was in a big hurry to move on. He redeemed himself at the end with the compliments. Her reaction was so sweet and cute.

One of a kind...........period. I have a daughter like her. When my daughter was young she was a severe stutter. Now she is a brilliant successful person. The people like Linda and my daughter talk fast to keep up with their brilliant brains.........

Ahhh the good ol days. Better times. Better times. We can dissect this interview and pick it apart for many things in regards to awareness of the way Johnny still manages to tap into misogyny but having lived during that era - one can still appreciate the candor even to this day ❤

Knew of her hit songs but have never heard her "talk." She talks so fast! She is also so cute and adorable too, in such a natural and unvarnished way. I can't think of anyone currently in the music business now if which that can be said....
