I think I’d like to do this piece for solo and ensemble. I’ve never done a four mallet piece before other than learning the technique. Do you think this would be a good piece to learn on?
@POVMarimba4 жыл бұрын
Wyatt A great that you are aspiring to do a solo! First of all it’s really hard to make a solid recommendation without seeing you play. However, I think it’s a good first piece because it covers three of the four stroke types and you can show musicality in several different ways. I think it’s not a good first piece because the roll section can be tricky to put together if you’ve never done that before. Why not try it, and if you have trouble with the roll section, then try one of the pieces in Marimba Technique Through Music by Mark Ford. Those pieces focus on individual techniques so you can really take time to develop your technique. Good luck, and let me know if you have more questions.

@jbr.7173 жыл бұрын
i am in your situation as well with learning this piece. my advice to you is other than practicing a ton, listen to video recordings in your free time. the more familiar you are with how the piece sounds, the easier it will be to learn and play through. hope this helps and good luck

@axolotlwolof1412 Жыл бұрын
@@POVMarimba hmmmm idk really lol, but i do perfer solos that prioritize the actual melodic value over simply technique difficulty and such. For example right now im doing ghost garden because im pretty bored and its pretty decent i would say. Its a little repetetive but there are other better ones
