the black belt on the right, really does a good job of performing techniques just like a yellow belt would.

American kenpo or kenpo karate is a hybrid martial art, nothing wrong with it but theres always criticism due to it being marketed by non black belts who only wanted to cash in. Ed Parker is always debatable but when an actual school is doing it right and not for profit it works like any other martial art with discipline

The footwork in short 1 is horrifying especially for high ranking black belts. Why rush it the goal is to retreat while establishing your base

Speed Power Aggression. Stop their vision, stop their breathing, stop their mobility. Punches elbows knees low kicks. Simplicity of belt ranking white, brown, black. Personally i never understood usage of alot of kata or techniques. Better have a really good ground combat today! And close to full contact spar. Im not suggesting or not suggesting bjj or other artz im just saying go back to killing and maiming combat training. Anything else is sport related. If you can punch a man in the face an extended thumb or fingers can stop a fight faster. But nothing really beats today's concealed to carry! Old west days ends all hands on.

As a "Karate" {punch/kick basics} style it's OK but as a "Jitsu" style "Waza", it leaves much to chance. To me the techniques are way to "soft" to work in this day & age. This is where I believe Krav Maga is more effective. Sure kenpo theories can be added to any system but I question any system that does not function in an MMA environment. or is not used by any military. Krav Maga does not have any MMA fighters to my knowledge but does have soldiers who believe in it. Kenpo is nice to look at, it's almost dance like but I would not recommend it to a woman who is trying to protect herself as a #1 choice. Sorry.

Believe is the keyword in your comment. Have you practiced it and tried it or seen it in a real environment? Probably not, so you don't know if it works or not

What these kids teaching here don't understand The world has moved on from this choreographed 1980's style of fighting that would never work in a real fight only with someone that knows nothing. A good boxer or BJJ fighter would make short work of this nonsense.
@mortgagefinancing55587 жыл бұрын
Not from were I am from.. They would love to learn boxing and other real self defense .. Kenpo takes on body mass and has no body power just flailing the arms around with pre set techniques that haven't changes since Ed Parker days and hoping the opponent will go along with falling right into their set patterns. I have seen I dont know how many Kenpo guys go in the ring and get chocked out..they dont last long ..a natural boxer with one years experience with some BJJ would completely destroy any grand master in kenpo in the fist round In 30 years of doing Jujitsu I never heard that anyone one doing BJJ would learn any Kenpo techniques.Its garbage in terms of reality. waist of time. I think you need to start mortgages as you no nothing about martial arts or reality. If you believe other wise you are a sap.

Mortgage Financing BRUCE LEE RESPECTED KENPO how long do you think you last in the octagon when you get old can't fight any more then you revert back to the base of the art it is about respect of the arts I guess you direct artist like chuck norris it depends on the technician not the art I studied tae kwon do , kenpo, I did boxing it is all about the basics something you will never understand I did MMA to. All arts have their purpose it not all about kicking ass an taking names

Another KZbin martial arts "expert". LOL!! :)) Ever consider the fact that not ever one wants or NEEDS to learn to fight "for real"? :) The reality of it is..."self-defence" classes are for exercise and to make money. No one in their right mind would really want to become a boxer (or Muay Thai) or even BJJ. When attacked it's rarely one on one. Attacker being of similar size and strength. And speed. It's usually 3 on 1. Maybe 5 on 1. :) Attackers usually armed. All the training in the world won't really help you against a gang of attackers. In the end, traditional martial arts is exercise/sport. Full-contact arts...income/sport. Not even Jeff Speakman at his peak would fair too well if swarmed. Perfect Weapon. Entertaining Kenpo themed film. Hyper unrealistic. Character gets in fights to the death...doesn't tire, bruise or bleed. :) Goes all out in an alley against iirc 5 guys. Some armed. Turns his back a few times to do his flashy Kenpo moves. And they all fall unconscious. Cold. Each hit would need to be pinpoint accurate. :) Why couldn't Or the scene in the Korean antique shop against the Korean mob. :) Why couldn't they make it kinda realistic. Jeff's character should have at least got cut by a blade and bruised. Even if he defeated them all. No way they would get up and walk away. :) And not come at him again. And none of them carried a gun? :)
