Review of Yamaha TTR230 dirtbike in extreme conditions! Romanian Tractor takes you to the trails of Calabogie for an enduro ride review like no other. New rider here. I've got a 2019 TTR230. I'm having a blast on the sucker. The things an absolute tank as far as crashes, and taking abuse etc. Being new, it has a butt load of power for a beginner, and will go damn near anywhere you want to go with it. Hills are not a problem at all. It's an excellent newby bike!! Lovin it. A little suggestion if I may.... try standing on the pegs more and steering more with your knees. It really helps a lot in controlling the bike, plus you don't get as fatigued.

I own a 09 that I just uncorked I open up air box ,remove the muffler silencer, install new jets And replace the 13 original for a 14 teeth front sprocket, mofo what a thing of beauty, I highly recommend this to any ttr 230 , cheers vatos

Hey, this was on the south side. There's a main parking area where Tatty Hill Road meets Bompass Trail. Great spot to ride, go up that big climb from the base, and then there's endless trails for your riding pleasure!

Yep, was an OFTR member but don't believe that's a requirement to ride at Calabogie. Could be wrong. If I recall correctly I got either the BMA or OFTR annual pass in order to ride at Limerick near Kemptville, but pretty sure Calabogie was open access. Couldn't tell you about the maps, we usually just winged it and learned our lessons when we got lost 😅

I don't know, 5' or taller... It's a personal comfort thing, you eventually want the ride height / ground clearance. If the 230 is too big, then I think they also have a 110 which is a smaller frame.

Andre Boitchenco I weight 185lbs but more like 200 with full gear, hydration pack, etc. I'd say it's at the upper limits of what the stock suspension can handle. Cuz it feels pretty soft.

Andre Boitchenco in that case I'd recommend a WR250F, it's what I would have bought if I had more budget. It's nice and approachable at first, and since 2015 they are fuel injected. So once you feel you want more power and agression, you can get the race ecu from Yamaha for 100 bucks, uncork the intake/exhaust, and it turns into a monster! My buddy has one and did exactly that .. quite impressive.

Romanian Tractor can't wait for you to do a review on the WR250F when you get one. I currently have a 2017 XT250 (dual sport) and a 2004 Kawasaki KDX220R. I would like to have a bigger dual sport, and a 4 stroke dirt bike. My XT250 is like the ttr230, can tractor up anything with no issue, where as on my 2 stroke KDX, even though it has good low end, it doesn't tractor the same as the XT. But the KDX is way lighter than either the wr and of course way way lighter than the xt. I got a short inseam for a 5 foot 9 inch rider, so even the KDX feels a bit tall.

Element 115 I am 6'0" - the stock bars are too low if you're above 5'9". So I put 30mm handlebar risers on mine and I replaced the handlebar itself with a Protaper High-end CR. Night and day difference. Now I can stand and keep my hands on the bars without bending my back... Feels natural.

Talis41 Venus41 definitely. There's no combination of bar risers and aftermarket handlebars you can install to make up for it. You need a 250 my friend. A WR250 will fit you nicely if you don't want something overly aggressive.

+Element 115 I could have sworn I replied to this but I must not have hit "send". I am 6'0". I installed Tusk 30mm risers on it and ProTaper CR High Bend handlebar. It's perfect now. I can stand comfortably while riding. Before the mods, I felt way too tall. Like trying to ride a bicycle while standing almost. I think the bike is made for people 5'7 or so. If you're taller than 6'0" I'd look at a WR250 instead.
