If you watch the episode when they all go to watch Jimmy ride, John says the correct line about “ that’s thing about problems, they will still be problems tomorrow” ( not sure if I quoted it exactly) to the lady governor. I recognize it bc I watch the Yellowstone episode when they had a marathon and later that night watched 1883 with the line and thought “ how cool they put a saying from Yellowstone and now it is not just a John saying but a Dutton family saying.

If you remember, in Yellowstone, one of the last episodes (the one they are pushing the cattle for the branding and Summer is left on the ranch to walk it/discover it/learn about it) and Monica keeps showing up in different spots to encourage/teach her....when Summer discovers the family cemetery, the first gravestone is that of Elsa. I totally understand. I was angry too. I think I just stopped crying a couple days ago. I do feel a lot better though, now that I know it was a limited series. I would've been pissed if there was a season 2 of 1883. Now, it's like, Here. This is a story about an extraordinary young woman (played by an extraordinary young woman). This is how she lived. This is how she loved and this is how she died. It's actually kinda beautiful. What I'd like, is for Taylor Sheridan to maybe show flashbacks in the new spinoff 1932. So, we can see more of James and Margaret (Tim and Faith) and how the ranch came to be. But it's still a different show. 1883 was Elsa's story. It simply couldn't continue without her. Just my opinion.❤️

Think it’s well established that James is John (Kevin Costner’s) Dutton Great Grandfather. But who’s James’s father & mother? Orphan is the only possibility And I was surprised nobody picked up on Yellowstone that his dying father said he missed his brother and mother! Probably just like real life today that people don’t listen to our elderly or blame dementia and are ignored ! Personally I found 1883 had more than a little of “Lonesome Dove “ inspiration and storyline and just straight up plagiarism And it’s based on the true story of the real men who drove cattle from Texas to Montana! And they really filmed In all the locations and without green screens! Wish I knew how to put together a comparison video together though someone will And it will always be my favourite western and series 💜💜💜

Again, in the interview with Taylor Sheridan, he says that James is John's (Keven Kostner) Great-Great-Great Grandfather. Yet in, what I believe to be, a decent Family Tree that shows James to be John's Great-Great-Grandfather. Making Tate the 7th Generation of the Dutton's if James is considered Generation 1. Thoughts?
@thesir12372 жыл бұрын
With 1923 currently airing, it's been pretty much stated that it goes James - John Sr - Jack - John 2 - John 3 (Kevin Costner) - Kayce - Tate
@meganconnell-cox64252 жыл бұрын
The character played by James Badge Dale (in 1923) is the same character that Audie Rick played in 1883. According to his timeline he would be 45. His character fits that timeline. Spencer is James's other son. He's the WWI vet hunting in Africa. He was the younger son in that flashback on Yellowstone when James comes home, has been shot, and dies. Spencer looked to be about 6 years old. That would mean he was born in 1887. That would make him about 35-36 years old. Here's what we learned (in Elsa’s narrative in the first episode of 1923): Margaret wrote to Jacob (Tim McGraw’s older brother) for help after James died. A year later, when Jacob arrives in Montana, he finds her dead. He said he got to Montana in 1894. In the narration, Elsa says that of Margaret and James' three children, only one would live to see their own children. That only one carried on the family name. And that would be John (James Badge Dale), the father of Jack (the nephew on 1923 that Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren are caring for) who is the one getting married (to Elizabeth). Jack eventually becomes Kevin Costner's grandfather. Which means the Dabney Coleman character will be Jack's son. 1. James 4. John II (Dabney Coleman) 2. John 5. John III (Kevin Costner) 3. Jack 6. Kayce 7. Tate: Half Native American and a member of the Broken Rock tribe. Thus, fulfilling Spotted Eagle's prophecy that in 7 generations the Native Americans would own the land again.
@Ashley_e Жыл бұрын
@@meganconnell-cox6425 because the cast has been begging to know the family line, there seems to be a swerve coming. Spencer’s child being Kevin’s grandfather would be super interesting. May be a family secret.

John Dutton tells Carter and the Buffalo Valley on his ranch that his great grandfather in 1889 told the United States Army they were not there. Words, words, words, the simple fact of the matter is that Sheridan screwed up killing off the main protagonist regardless of his reasons just like Game of Thrones did killing off the Dragon Queen or how Titanic did killing off Jack Dawson, or Saving Private Ryan killing off Tom Hanks. That sequel was the best behind Yellowstone. The young girl was excellent in the part as well as Faith Hill and Tim McGraw

I have a solution/problem with the 7th generation prophecy because Tate is a Native American. So if he owns it. They have gotten it back.

In 7 generations my family will rise up and comment on stupid shit like this!

You're quite an optimist thinking we'll still be around in seven generations.

There is a scene with Lee and young John and Jaimie. Lee calls Jaimie little brother.

I hated that their daughter was killed off in the show !THAT SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED!!!!!

If your going to make a period movie make it accurate. From the farmers wife and daughter expertly herding cattle and cutting cattle (which takes special horses) to the dress and hairdos of the women. It was all wrong. I got tired of it and moved on I didn’t finish the series

There aren't enough generations in between for James Dutton and the current John Dutton for James to be his great great great grandfather. I love Taylor Sheridan, but I am not buying that comment.

Really? I have a picture of 5 generations. My Grandmother ,mother ,myself, my daughter, and my granddaughters.. my grandmother died at 85 on my granddaughters 1st birthday
@suepotts54292 жыл бұрын
@@davidjessee7701 not saying it is never possible, but with the information available James Dutton would more likely be Tate's great great great grandfather. Of course I may not have all the information

Elsa with her black eyebrows was most disappointing. The actress did ok but come on, really? Taylor should have gotten a true blond to be his ‘ lightning’ girl. Beth is awesome and can’t wait to see her next moves on Yellowstone since Costner is again putting us to sleep.

Bruh if you that uncomfortable with how things in the show are then stop watching. Beth is annoying at this point and is willing to ruin the lives of innocent people just to get what she wants and protect her family. Even John is against her actions because they reflect and make situations worse for some other people (innocent at least) and tends to be reckless, that’s why she ended up getting beaten and bruised by those guys in S2, she couldn’t keep her damn mouth shut. She’s lucky Ripp was there but he won’t always be there to save her if another situation like that occurs. Beth is literally ruining the show in my opinion.

I really disliked 1883. Really disliked it. I don't plan on watching 1932. I don't find the Dutton's past very interesting and cannot stand the endless narration. Waiting for next season of Yellowstone.

Maybe Taylor Sheridan just isn’t that creative and writes the same dialogue and plot lines because it’s all he knows?
