Yellowstone North Entrance, Through Lamar Valley & West Entrance

Here we enter in from the Gardiner Montana North Entrance of Yellowstone, then drive east through Lamar Valley all the way to Silver Gate North East Entrance. Did you notice at Mammoth how behind it, it just went on and on ? (most people just see what is there, not realizing how huge it really is). In Lamar Valley you passed Soda Butte dome. Most think it is dead, so they often allow their kids to climb on it for pictures etc. If you walk around back...you will smell the smell, and see little wisps of smoke...it is still alive.

Yes Mammoth is pretty impressive, we still haven't done the whole upper section, but likely will in the fall when we head back :) I'll have to check out the Soda Butte Dome next time, thanks for the insight on that! 🙂👍

@@lifesubalpine There are little ground squirrels that live in the holes etc. they expect a little tidbit. lol Bread, sliced apple etc., unsalted peanuts, nothing salty, (bad for them). Just lay at the entrance of the little caves or holes...they find it. In summer they live close to the front area, winter towards the back...maybe a little heat, not sure.
