YellowVette04 . Will cleaning with alcohol damage the paint? My wife inherited an ‘02, same color from her dad, who died last year. I’ll show her this video to see if she would like to get the spoiler. I think it looks cool as hell.

Nothing to worry about. I wouldn't go crazy with it, but if you have a damp microfiber and put some rubbing alcohol on it, you'll be fine. It's just to remove any oils or residue left over from cleaning to help the 3M stick. It sticks very well and probably wouldn't matter either way lol, but it can't hurt.

Installed a very similar deal from Spoiler King today on my new Civic. The biggest tip I can give is I left my spoiler on my dash in direct hot sunlight for 5 hours. The spoiler was extremely flexible because of this. I couldnt imagine installing these spoilers cold. They harden up when cold. Soft as spaghetti when hot.

It looks good on the yellow. I am thinking I’ll eventually get the carbon zr1 spoiler for my black C5. I enjoy the videos. You make me feel like I should contribute to the community. I just reupholstered my seats in the C5 and rebuilt the seat tracks.

That's clean bro. I like your touches. A lot of people go over the top with tacky mods before covering the basics of CLEANLINESS and FUNCTION first. They fail to realize the sickest looking cars everyone idealizes (real race cars) are function first as well.

Looks nice. Great video. I'm assuming that you did not use the small tube of adhesive promoter that they include with the spoiler? I'm about to install one and can't bring myself to put that promoter on my paint as I've read that it can't be difficult to remove. On the other hand, this spoiler is something you want to be firmly mounted. I know 3M double sided tape is good but I would like to know how this has held up for those who didn't use the adhesive promoter.

They did not include adhesive promoter with my spoiler. Just cleaned thoroughly, wiped with alcohol and stuck it on. It's held up great. No fading and not peeling off in any way. Looks as good as it did on day 1. You'll be happy with it and I don't think the promoter is required if you don't want to use it. Thanks for watching and asking a good question

Just curious, has anyone had any problems with these in the long term? Fading of the spoiler? or damage to the paint if you have to remove it? It does look great. Thinking of adding a spoiler to my yellow C5.

Going on 2 years and still looks like it did day 1. No garage so it's out in the elements most of the year. I'm happy with it and it's hard to beat for the price.

3m tape doesn’t damage paint. Once you take it off correctly the paint will be fine. If you want it take off best advice is to go to a body shop they have the tools to safely remove 3m tape

Finally pulled the trigger, the spoiler was delivered today. I had other priorities to fix on my yellow C5 before buying anything cosmetic. Weather is crappy though, going to have to wait until it warms up.

Wait for warm weather, leave in it the sun for 20mins or so, it'll turn into a spaghetti noodle and then it's ready to install. I agree cosmetic changes can always wait. You'll love the new look and good luck

@@YellowVette04 I've watched your video along with a couple others, one step in the instruction that no one has mentioned is "apply a thin uniform coating of the primer adhesion promoter (included) to the bonding surface." Is the new sence you installed your spoiler?

They didn't include that in the package for me. Thoroughly clean the area, wipe with alcohol and stick it on. It's not going anywhere lol, but you can certainly use the promoter if you want

Carbon fiber is nice. You can get this painted, there's instructions for the paint shop to do so. I would think you'd have to be pretty careful with it afterwards because it is flexible.

There's no question, the black-contrast spoiler looks good on the rear of the carwithout being too obtrusive. It's a nice 'accent' -- almost like an 'eyebrow' for the rear lights BUT -- does it make any significant aerodynamic difference? Or is it a cosmetic dress-up, "tarting-out" the ample rear-end of a car that is already one of the sexiest "wedge" cars on the road?

Did you use the surface primer included in the spoiler packaging? I just got mine and it came with 2 alcohol wipes and a small tube of surface primer.

I don't remember getting the surface primer. I only thoroughly cleaned the surface and wiped it with alcohol. So far so good and still looks like new. I'm sure the primer can only help.

Hey Dave, I had my spoiler out to do a test fit today and realized there is quite a curve to the rear deck. Did you put your spoiler in the sun to heat it up before the install, so you could follow the contour of the rear of the car?

Yea, I believe the directions said to leave it in the sun for about 30 mins. It'll be like a snake after that. Probably don't need all 30 mins, I got impatient and it was fine lol.

Hey man, just ordered this on amazon. I live in MN and winter is shitty here. How does this spoiler do in the winter or snow? Does it still stick well? Does it get damaged bad? I'm thinking of returning it now knowing it's rubber.

I wouldn't install it when it's cold out. They recommend a minimum temperature for install. I haven't had it on during the winter yet, so I can't speak for durability during winter months, but it seems like it should hold up fine. The 3M tape is legit, when installed with proper temps this thing isn't going anywhere. The company is based out of upstate NY, so I would think they tested their material in the winter. I'm not sponsored by them and did buy it myself, so ultimately you have to be happy with it and if you have doubt then return it.
