Brilliant!!! Brilliant!!! Brilliant!!! I was so captivated, and engrossed with this interview that I watched it three times. I formulated the view that it would be productive to be shown in many schools, Sunday schools, youth clubs, and even in the House of Representatives (instead of regular prayers: corrupt politicians and police have no Godly orientation). Very well done Yendi. Great interview.

The greatest resource that any country has will be its people. This is one of observations that I take from this discussion. Dr. Haughton’s eloquence, decisiveness and practical delivery of solutions to uplift our country are refreshing insights. If only this would be the colossal pool of thought among the populous. It takes a change of mindset and that’s what we lack as a nation. With all our talent and greatness within us, I often wonder the global impact we would have as Jamaicans beyond the recognition that we currently have. If only more of us became aware and intentional about the solutions proffered by Dr. Haughton. Thanks Doc, this is one that makes me feel proud to be a Jamaican.

This is one of the best interviews you have had. The sad thing is some 'black' people think education and hard work is for other races not the black race. We need more people like this gentleman in the world. It's not were you are coming from, it's where you are going. His mother taught him well. Kudos to all the single/divorce mothers who have raise their children well and teach them that education and hard work does pay off.
@dawnb.11272 жыл бұрын
What race have to do with this and who told you that black people don't invest in education?, Jamaica literacy is over 80%, if you know anything about the crime in Jamaica, you would know that it is committed by a minority of the population and some of those young people that are involved in crime are educated, many Jamaicans are unable to further their education because of their financial situation, but at least they got the basic, so please stop this nonsense about black people are not interested in education.
@godlovesnaxtess46982 жыл бұрын
@@dawnb.1127 I dont think you got the points made by Dr Haughton. If you think think the crime is committed by the minority, think again. What do you think corruption is? Even former Senior Superintentdent of Police Renito Adams spoke of it and everyone was up in arms. Dr Haughton went to lengths to mention how the youths view "Discilpine" for this very same reason. And the good Dr was very clear in pointing out where the youths get the idea/thoughts/example of stealing/quick money now... mentality from. It has nothing to do with education per se but everthing to do with the examples that they see infront of them, where the majority of the population is caught up in this mad race to get money at all cost and is very selfish ans unscrupulous in obtaining it. It is happening at ALL LEVELS of the society. And of course RACE... especially the BLACK race... has alot to do with it because the black youths, who are the majority DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH BLACK ROLE MODEL AND MENTORS lke Dr Haughton with the positive morals, values and attitude that they can EMULATE. His mother with her humble beginnings was able to convince him of the importance of education and because of the positive values and attitudes that she inculcated in him, he in turn did not want to disappoint her out of RESPECT of her value system. Perhaps you should relisten the interview with an open, non judgemental mind.

Exactly!!!, I hundred percent agree with the other comments too, but I’ve seen people I know that says, “that is not for me, that’s for white people”. And I’m like you also have the capability of doing exactly what they are doing. It’s crazy man but I have one life and I’m going to aim big.
@dawnb.11272 жыл бұрын
@@godlovesnaxtess4698 you do not get the point and I think you should read my comments again, I was not referring to what Dr. Houghton said, I think the interview was a great one and I support everything that he said, what I responded to was the person that posted the comment that black people are not interested in education like other races, that comment is not correct, what evidence does she have to show that black people are not interested in educating their children? you need to look before you leap, in other words, read thoroughly with understanding before you comment.
@dawnb.11272 жыл бұрын
@@syd5831 yes, some people says that, but look at the percentage, you cannot covered an entire race of people based on a small percentage of individuals that do not believe in education, it is like crime in Jamaica today, which I agreed is bad and has always been bad, but people people watched these youtubers who reported daily about crime and believed that Jamaica is the worst place and if they do thier research they would know that this is not a new phenomenon that is happening, we cannot believe everything we hear, do some research before we accept everything that a couple people said as gospel.

If you cut off the branches that holds the buds that give the fruits, thee trunk become useless. The branches need the trunks and trunk need the branches. Some branches need pruning, but pruning make them produce much better.
