12 year Green Beret back with some more commentary on another great episode! Things were intense, some of it frustrating to watch (my fiance kept telling me to calm down lol), but overall it was a good time! This is gonna be a long post, probably in multiple parts, but enough of y'all have enjoyed the commentary so I'll keep'em coming! - 4v4 trench warfare. Ian's a monster. Ton of respect to UDT and Jong Hyun for what he did in the previous round, but against Ian.. Sorry, but no one on the show is beating him now that he's focused and not underestimating people. - I'm not surprised by the semifinal selections. I would've picked the same thing. USSF has worked alongside 707 and knows that UDT has extensive maritime training while HID has been a bit of a wildcard for them. They're great marksmen, but can they move under fire? We hadn't really seen it before this episode so it makes sense that USSF would rather take their chances vs HID. I personally was not impressed by HID in that first maritime op, but in their defense they're not a maritime unit so it's fair that they'd struggle on water. I figured they'd either really impress me on land or leave me disappointed, similar to how I felt about UDU. They remind me of a CIA tactical team (similar to SWAT) - This semifinal op is INSANE!!! I honestly love it. I've done a bunch of training ops on a similar/larger scale, but never in a 4 man team. Green Beret ODAs (short for Operational Detachment Alpha - what we call our teams) are 12 men deep. We'll split into 3-4 man elements from time to time to conduct smaller objectives within the op, but never would a team this small take on such a big operation, especially with so little intel as Kaj mentioned. It would be quite the challenge, but a fun one! My fiance is telling me I need to volunteer for season 4 lol.. - I'm surprised the infil for this op wasn't on an IBS. I mean there's a big boat, we wouldn't just walk up the ramp.. I feel like it was a missed opportunity for some cool water shots lol - Neat to see HID shifting roles throughout the op, similar to how we're trained. For Green Berets you may have a specialty within the team, but before all that you're a riflemen. For example, I was an 18E which is an SF Communications Sergeant, the "Echo" for the team. My specialty was working coms while we were on mission, but I've found myself in an assaulter role to swapping out my M4 for a M110 to provide overwatch since I also attended the US Army Sniper Course. You gotta be fluid and we all were trained to be expert riflemen before they sent us to our specialty schools. (PART 1)

(Part 2) - USSF was moving fast throughout this op and I'm not gonna lie, it was kinda frustrating to watch.. I love these dudes. The SEALs have been nothing but class and my fellow long tabber Will has done the Legion proud, but Jesus Christ they were frustrating to watch at times! - It was mentioned throughout the episode, that Will who's a Green Beret is this bulldozer. That it's a Green Beret mentality, which is mostly true. When we move, we move fast and hard, but that's because there's 12 of us!! We overwhelm our enemies with speed, extreme violence and numbers. First of all we trust our gear. We know that hey, chances are we're gonna get hit, but hey just make sure you're hit in the right spot. In my 15 years I've taken a half dozen shots to my chest plates. Almost all of them coming as the point man, which btw is never a fun time.. but anyway I trust that my plates will stop 7.62 from putting a hole in me. I also trust that my weapon won't repeatedly malfunction, which happened way too often throughout this op at the worst possible times for Will. It makes me wonder if the operators had time to perform weapon maintenance on their systems before the op. I'll tell you right now, before and after every mission I'd always spend at least an hour cleaning my weapons to make sure they were ready for the next time I'd need them. Blanks which are the rounds that the operators are using on this show are also notorious for jamming. It really makes me wonder if the operators had enough time to prep their gear since HID also had a few malfunctions. Secondly, as Green Berets we've got a bit of an ego lol.. We trust ourselves. We believe and more often than not have proven that we're better trained than our enemy. When I enter a room, I believe that I'm going to beat you to the punch. Lastly and most importantly we trust in our teammates. I know that when I breach a room as point man, my fellow Green Beret has his rifle already in and ready to fire where I'm not looking if needed. I've done combat missions with SEALs, Marine Force Recon, conventional infantry units to foreign military and none of that compares to having a fellow Green Beret stacking up with me. So in short - we trust our gear, ourselves and our teammates. That's what gives us the confidence to bulldoze if you will. Where I was frustrated watching Will though is that he kept up that bulldozer mentality without accounting for his 3 SEAL teammates and how they'd move. Yes, SEALs move slower than us, but you should also know to flow with them. I think Will just got too into this game show mentality. Dude was just running around like Rambo lol.. and unfortunately I feel like it may cost USSF the win.

(Part 3) - The most frustrating part was seeing USSF move on the package through those crates.. Just right down the middle of that kill box. I'd be shocked if they didn't get hit at least a dozen times in there. Like we know that's a kill box. Enemy has the advantage when we have to go into a bottleneck like that with no elevation or cover, but there goes Will running down the middle, with the other 3 chasing him. Everyone getting shot lol... MILES gear can be weird though.. maybe they'll get lucky and no one got hit haha.. MILES gear is also frustrating from the perspective of the operators. USSF/HID put so many rounds into some of these OPFOR! Were these live rounds, guaranteed, first 3 bullets would've torn a hole into some dudes gut, arm and leg. Trust me, he's not moving around much after that, but since you have to shoot the MILES sensor, we've got these OPFOR guys running around like they're Neo from the Matrix lol.. Definitely takes the realism out of an operation when you know getting shot has little consequences. As I mentioned in an earlier episode, SIM rounds were used during most of my training missions. You'll feel it when you get shot with a SIM. Also if you get shot enough times an evaluator would tell you "arm hit, you're now one handed" or "legs are gone, gotta have someone carry you" but that's way too much for television so it'll always be MILES gear for this show. - The three bosses were awesome! So cool that they brought in operators from previous seasons of the show. They were solid as were the OPFOR (bad guys) as a whole. They actually had controlled shots at the operators, were actively seeking cover and were in better positions throughout the op. I do however, feel that they were more tactical vs USSF than they've been against HID. One particular OPFOR made me almost jump out of my chair. The guy saw HID, had the jump on them, he just had to wait a few seconds before shooting and he would've gotten a few hits on them, but instead this clown shoots once. ONCE at NOTHING, which gives away his position and allows HID to react. They just didn't seem as clinical when it came to fighting HID compared to when they fought USSF. I'm sure they don't mean to be. It's likely subconscious, just unfortunate to see. - For those unfamilar Kaj's "double tap" on that final boss is entirely illegal lol.. I know we all see it in movies, but definitely a quick ticket to prison if he were caught doing that in Afghanistan/Iraq. We're not allowed to double tap an enemy or "mercy kill" them. We're actually expected to take all surviving combatants in which means we need to treat their wounds. How many wounded combatants did I take in over my 15 years? Very few. How you ask. We're trained to shoot a lot. We're sending a ton of rounds downrange which means more than likely our target has been hit a half dozen times before their body hits the ground. They're more often than not dead before they're horizontal. Anyway, sorry for the long comments! Hope y'all enjoy the insight! Feel free to ask any questions if you've got them. I'll answer to the best of my ability so long as it's not OPSEC related. Overall, it was a great episode. Frustrating to watch as a former Green Beret, but also fun as hell to watch just to see how these two teams move and to see the reactions from the MCs. I can't help, but feel that HID's got this in the bag. Their caution just might lead to victory, but I suppose we'll have to wait until next week to find out. As for the other semifinal - I've got a soft spot for 707 so I hope they advance, but I think it'll be UDT moving onto the final.

Read all your comment and it is very intersting seeing the reviews from former Green Berets. I think US team they all so pumped up and thrilled I could feel it through the screen 😆 Will def has spirit of warrior. And I like that he was trying to widen the angle from the opposite guys. I wish the rest did the same so Will would have got focused less. But, different strategies I guess. The gear part, that‘s unfortune but fair to both teams. That happens to both teams. Sorry about Korean show budget. Well, for the double tab, again, the US team got so into the situation that moment. Hope to see your reviews at the next episode. Please share what you think.

Almost agreed abt your opinion. I have same thought abt the different reaction of boss/opposite team toward 2 teams USSF and HID. Will is super excellent but he doesnt harmonize the Navy seal speed, so it must be the variance. Rooting for Us team

미특수부대 한편의 영화를 보는듯.. 그 시간이 너무 흥미진진하고 재밌었습니다. 우왕. 어쩜 저럴수가있지? 생각했네요. 우리나라도 침착하게 잘하셨지만... 스릴과 재미는 따라갈수 없었어요. 진짜 손과 발에 땀이 흥건... 미션의 존폐를 떠나서 재미재미. 대항군이 우리나라에는 좀 순한듯 ㅋㅋㅋ

역시 미 육군 스타일 제대로 보여준 윌. 실제로 저렇게 작전 훈련 많이 합니다 소리지르고 욕하고 나중에 불려가서 혼나고의 반복이에요.

@@JasonPark-2023 아마 작전 스타일때문에 많이 달랐을겁니다. 미 육군같은 경우 투입되거나 작전하는 지역이 난전이 일어나기 쉬운곳에서 작전을 많이하게됩니다 훈련도 그런식이죠. 네이비 씰쪽은 모르지만 작전지역이 아마 암살에 가까운, 난전이 일어나지 않게 작전을 진행 할겁니다, 해상이나 배같은경우 난전이 일어나면 인명피해는 지상작전보다 처참할겁니다. 가장 이해하기 쉬운게 영화에서 가장 잘표현한게 타르코프 영화를 러시아쪽에서 팬메이드로 만든 영화가 있습니다, 실제 지상 시가전 특히 미육군이 경험한 교전상황이 굉장히 잘표현됐죠. 보시면 첫발 나가는 순간부터 교전이 난전이 되고 엄청 시끄럽고 빠르게 진행됩니다. 하지만 액트오브 밸러같이 네이비씰 위주의 영화를 보면 굉장히 소수인원의 조용한 작전 장면을 많이 보여주고 탈출하는 장면도 많이 나옵니다, 육군은 반대로 하나 죽을때까지 빠르게 붙어 정리하는 작전을 많이 쓰죠 그만큼 인원수도 많고 교전 상황 규모 자체가 훨신 큽니다, 시간이 지체 될수록 포격및 다른 기갑등등 교전이 엄청 커질 가능성이 많죠. 결국 자기들 훈련 받은 식으로 진행 한거같아요 게다가 윌이 포인트다 보니 뒤에 3명이 맞춰줘야하는데 그부분이 잘 소통이 안된거 같아요. 그래도 미군이 결승 간거같아요 (예고편보면 최영재 마스터가 '미 특수부대입니다' 말하는 속도랑 딱맞더군요. 그리고 볼 움직임이 '특수부' 발음할때 처럼 퉁퉁퉁 움직여요. HID는 훨씬 빠르게 발음 하시니 삐 처리 부분이 더 짧았어야하는데), 그것보단 이미 작전상 뒷걸음이나 제자리에 머물게되면 총상입을 확률이 더 높습니다, 맞더라도 계속 움직여야 덜 맞아요 아마 이부분에서 총상차이가 심할꺼 같은 생각이에요, 실제 한미연합 훈련떄 마일즈 장비 써봤는데 움직이면 진짜 덜 맞더라구요)

윌의 dynamic entry 방식은 fatality rate이 너무 높아서 active shooting scene 같은 긴급 상황이 아닌 경우에는 더이상 사용하지 않습니다. 요즘 CQC는 deliberate entry를 기본으로 천천히 slicing 하면서 진입합니다.

@@brennso4178 반격할 기회조차 주지 않고, 전광석화 같이 압도적 화력으로 적을 제압하는 미육군 특수부대의 전술이 윌의 머뉴버링에서 확연히 드러나네요. 저도 후덜덜합니다.

@@boothegp8441 맞습니다. 아마 게임상 IED나 여러 부비트랩이 없다고 판단하고 움직인거 같아요. 실제 상황에선 Pie Slicing도 못하게 장애물도 많고 시야도 안보이고 정말 힘든 상황이 많죠, 어느정도 게임에 맞춰서 이기기위한 전략을 만든거 같아요.

ㄹㅇ 영양가없는 메아리들 빠졌으면 좋겠음. 초반때 김희철의 맞지? 내말이맞지? 맞지? 좀 거슬렸음. 그리고 츄 리액션 멘트, 중간 중간에 아~ 오! 추임새 넣는것도 프로그램에 몰입할때 방해되기도 하더라. 유튜브로 보는 내가 할말은 아니지만 노래 들을때 MR 제거 버전 있듯이 리액션 제거버전도 있었으면 좋겠음 ㅋㅋ 방송의 재미랑 분량을 채워주긴하나 너무 메아리들이 많은것 같음. 컨텐츠에 녹여들면 상관없는데 계속 튀니까 문제인거 같음.

From the dialogue given by the USSF from 29:00 to 31:00, I am guessing that USSF team lost this round. They are speaking as if they are reflecting on the mission rather than what their opinion was from the beginning.

I’m not too confident if USSF is winning this one. I think Wil’s style of being a bulldozer and eliminating threats quickly is really cool especially how he was only shot once the last challenge even though he ran into enemies head on was incredible but I think his gun jamming multiple times in the open this time might be a factor on if they win or lose this challenge

I don't think, USSF would make it to the next round. But who knows, I saw a few clips of HID, they probably taken more shots. Then again will see the results.

무식해보이지만 윌같은 스타일의 부대 전체가 한꺼번에 저렇게 침투한다고 생각해보면 당황 안할 수 없을듯.. 혼자 저러면 개죽음인데 다같이 돌진했을때 비로소 피해를 최소화 할 수 있지 않을까 싶네요.

난 젊을땐 어느정도 운동하고 힘으로 평균 이상이 됐을때 운동 하는걸 그만 뒀는데 정 종현은 앞으로 더 강해질거라 봅 전 시합에 좀 무리했다해도 자기때문에 졌다는 책임감에 앞으로 죽도록 할거같음 요

총상을 시간패널티로 마지막에하는게 아니라, 중간에 판정받으면 그자리에서 1분간 대기라던가 다른 패널티를 주는데 더 재밌을듯?

당연 미군이면 '마약 소탕 작전' 을 선택하는데, 문제는... USSF의 스피드+엄청 두들겨 맞았냐 vs HID의 리얼 상황 침착함+많은 시간을 끌었냐? 인데. 지난번 707과 연합작전 했을때도 윌 대원이 황소처럼 쳐들어 가면서 한발? 정도 맞았던 상황이 기억남. 과연 이번에도 초스피드로 진입하며 임무를 끝냈는지.. 아님 엄청 두들겨 맞아서 시간을 끌었던 HID 보다 못했는지......... 진짜 궁금하넹~ 707 vs UDT 보급 행군은 ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ 보나마나 아니겠나. 4400kg 군용트럭을 압도적으로 밀었던 괴물 UDT 인데 (707 우승하길 바라지만) 울 707 결승행 힘들겠네.

정말 몰라서 그런데 저건 미션이니까 총을 맞더라도 패널티 60초만 받고 계속 하면 되는데 실전에서는 단 한발의 총상이라도 엄청난 치명상 일텐데 (어느 부위에 맞았냐에 따라 엄청난 통증, 과다출혈, 쇼크, 사망 등) 실제 미국 육군에서 윌처럼 저렇게 무조건 밀고 가나요? 윌이 하는거 보면 목숨 10개인거 같아요

But, in the last episode, one of the HID members was promoted to high order in the Korean Maritime forces, right? And, in another scene, HID members demonstrated awesome shooting skills. It's obviously scripted that the Americans have to put diwn their K opponents, but it gets too much.
