Hey Andrew...! Great reaction, and glad you're sinking ever deeper into the (G)I-DLE depths! Some background on "Uh-Oh": As always, Soyeon wrote and produced it, but it was a long process. She actually began working on it after "Hann" and got most of the song written, but got stuck. Even time at a songwriters' camp didn't get it across the finish line, and she put it aside to work on "Senorita". It wasn't until after "Senorita" and putting out their third hit song that she was finally able to solve the remaining issues with "Uh-Oh" and get it ready for an early summer release. "Uh-Oh" is essentially one huge diss track to all the fake fans that she knew during her time as a trainee, particularly during "Produce 101" and "Unpretty Rapstar". There were many who insulted her appearance, or who loved/feared her talent (especially as a rapper, since her songwriting genius was untapped back then) and might have said nice things about her to her face but were wanting her to fail. Word gets around - Soyeon knew these things. Now, when she and (G)I-DLE are successful, many of those same people are wanting to get close to her, leech off of her success, telling her "I always believed in you" or "Lets work on something together" - and she sees through their façade. "Oh you always believed in me? That's not what I remember...get the f*%k away from me!" "Uh-Oh" was a cathartic song for Soyeon, as it was letting out a LOT of pent up feelings from days when she was depressed, uncertain about her future, and was being told a lot that she'd never make it as an idol and never get a debut. Soyeon has never had a lot of self-confidence in her own talent - even during the creation of "Lion" she said that the members of (G)I-DLE telling her she's good and talented means so much to her as she didn't have that for SO long. During some of the behind-the-scenes interviews she talked about how freeing it was to finally say all of this, and from a position of "Look at me now, losers." The end part talks about her knowing who her real friends are - the rest of (G)I-DLE, her friends in other groups, like Eunbean in CLC (who was in Produce 101 with her), and the fans - like you - who have come to really appreciate her talent and love (G)I-DLE's music.

@@nevy7097 Thanks! I wish I could say I knew Idle personally, but all the information I relate is taken from their print interviews, I-Talk videos, and videos and articles that they are featured in. Information about "Uh-Oh" mostly came from the I-Talk videos filmed during promotion in which Soyeon talked about the songwriting process and the difficulty she had in completing the song. I really enjoy hearing about her creative process; would also love to hear more from Minnie about how she works and in what ways the two of them are similar and different in their approach to songwriting and production.

(G) idle is a great group and just to let you know the names of each member are shown in the subtitles. The members are Minnie, soyeon, miyeon, soojin, shuhua and yuqi. Just want to inform you, soyeon (the leader) used to be mocked for her appearance. She's downplayed for not debuting and lose in 2 survival show (at the time of uh-oh released). Basically people underestimate her A LOT. Hence this song is pretty meaningful even for the fans cause its like they diss all those people who used to doubt her and her group. You are free to pick a favorite. But do remember at the end of the day, Soyeon pretty much *IS* (G)-Idle. She raps, sings, writes and produces every (G)-Idle song. There's no accounting for taste, but in terms of talent there's no competition here.

Love watching your reactions to idle. Soyeon is my bias but it could be easily said for every member as they're all wonderful. Best things you've not watched yet: Senorita Blow Your Mind Queendom performances. Latata (dark version) Fire (2ne1 cover) Say No (Nightmare version) Lion (live) There's a lot of versions of the Queendom performances.... But, the full versions of each song are just the performances and not interrupted by fan reactions/other queendom groups reactions to parts. the ones with Eng subs have the reactions of the audience/other queendom groups interrupting the performances. Their Japanese versions of Latata and both are just very pretty videos. And it sounds awesome in Japanese, too. (the one on their vevo, and the one for kate cosmetics) I know you can't watch them here, but they're worth seeing at least once. They also did a cover of Fake Love last year that was pretty cool. Their MMA (Melon Music Awards) 2018 award performance was FANTASTIC and definitely worth watching. Their KCON All That Jazz performance was great, too. The live KDA performance of PopStars had Soyeon and Miyeon and was excellent, too.

Your reviews are the best! So much love for (G)I-DLE - definitely my faves! Definitely, do Seniorita next - also check out their Queendom performance of Put it Straight - will blow you away - so much raw emotion. Soojin visibly shakes at one point. On the flip side their cover of Fire by 2NE1 is literally that... FIRE!! Also, have to mention Shuhua - she's from Taiwan and her Korean wasn't so great and so she never really had any real lines - but boy is it building - her performance in Lion is the culmination of her growing confidence!! They really are Queens! I always think my bias is Minnie but then I see Soojin, Miyeon, Soyeon - you get the picture :)

I would dispute the idea that most fans hate the song. Almost universally, reactors here and Neverlands on Twitter LOVE "Uh-Oh". It got a show win and has 40m combined views on KZbin (which is about on par with "Senorita" when factoring in the longer time "Senorita" has been out). It may not be THE most popular track by them, but I don't think that many people actually hate it.
