I’m an infj type 6w5. It is a weird type. I’ve always been unhappy with it as others are saying. It seems like I’m getting the identity of fearful and anxious.

It was surprise for me that people are ashamed to me 6. I'm still unsure what my type is, but my gaze was dropped to 4 at first. And thought that I can be 4 is very uncomfortable for me. I don't think that 4 or 3 are "cool" types. They're types of pain. Anyway, I believe that any type is not good or bad, I love 6es personally. Maybe I am one and it would be fine

A lot of INFJ I've seen online have one thing in common. It seems like we're all the byproduct of trauma. Perhaps, INFJ is a manifestation of trauma? Mr. Ren, could you do a video talking about the correlation between INFJ and trauma/being a trauma type?
@donnaanforth3458

Also Ren, perhaps a majority of INFJs are type 6 because we are elusive and mysterious and can't be hemmed in by a personality type... we are full of contradictions as INFJs and with the phobic/counter phobic tendencies of type 6... we cannot be fully understood as INFJs, even really to ourselves. Everyone in this world wants to identify with something specific, I don't know, I am interested in self growth, but quite like the fact that we are chameleons of sorts and life somewhat in the mystery

Hi Ren, always enjoy your videos... I believe a lot of people are mistyped because the enneagram tests do not always take into account the elusive nature of type 6.... my enneagrams are always high 2 and 4, but after much consideration feel I am probably a core SP6 with wing 5 .... also for instance SP2 is very similar to SP6... and actually when you get down to the subtypes... they are very different.... meaning SP6 is not so security oriented, do want to connect with others and warm etc... so just saying that people need to study and deeply consider the subtypes of the enneagram... go deep into it... not just believe the tests.... my belief is that there are a lot of mistyped INFJs out there, that will type as SP6, which takes into account our extroverted feeling.

IMO the essence of 6ness was described well in the song "Zero Zero" by The Legendary Pink Dots.

I don't know if it's correlated but I feel like deep down, the betrayal trauma caused by my ex-wifes infidelity manifested into me becoming a 6w5. Prior to that, I related more to a 4w5. I was very emo ie gloomy, melancholic etc. I also feel like certain traumas can impact your personality to the point of maybe not a full change but something different than previously acquired. I'm not a professional.

I must say I never taken Enneagram as a typing system to be taken seriously. This is because of inherent lack of geometrical symmetry and precise metrics that MBTI has - where you can map out exactly why someone is a certain way, and contrast and compare surgically. Enneagram seems to just put 9 archetypes in random order, seems to miss certain ones as well, and they are not even categorically identical in level of specificity or nature. Almost like we took 9 out of the MBTI types mixed with only some of the individual cognitive functions, and put them in random order, and say this is a complete system. Thus it follows, that when someone says "I'm an INFJ, type4" sounds like they say "I'm an INFJ who also happens to be an Fi dom", like adding Enneagram to an already clean, established type sounds contradictory, like just some extra characteristic that people want to throw in, when the cognitive functions, and their varying strengths already have everything to explain a type who maybe has a certain function more developed. Opening the door to contradiction, just by using another model and vocabulary to hide it.

Hi! I'm no where near as knowable about enneagram as MBTI (hence "thatmbtiguy"), but have you considered that maybe the two systems are looking at different aspects of a person. One could argue that MBTI expresses how it a person's mind works, whereas enneagram expresses people's motivations. This could possibly avoid clashing with MBTI, by claiming it's how you work, not why you work. To counter an argument about them being linked due to enneagram being closely correlated with type, your specific interests are not defined either - an INTJ is more likely to like chess with their function stack, but could also not like it. As for the Fi dom INFJ argument, you could say this type has a particular emphasis on the function and use it disproportionately. We all have access to all 8 functions, so theoretically an INFJ could have a preference for using their critic Fi a lot. Again, MBTI channel not enneagram channel, this is just me sharing some thoughts and ideas 😅 Thanks - That MBTI Guy

@@thatmbtiguy Sure man, I did consider exactly that before in the beginning. But when you think about the granular aspects of the cognitive functions, they represent specific things. Things that in some combination already explain the Ennagram. * Now, we can call them "how someone thinks, and, and why they like something (motivation)", and tyr to make it sound like they are different things. But these approaches are using the same metrics (like feeling, logic, extroversion, identity...). And MBTI has it well incorporated how motivations work as well. So I'm saying it's all really there in MBTI already, and the motivations that Ennagram wants to throw in, already explained by MBTI motivations with cognitive functions. (In MBTI it is explained even why you are motivated by something - according to your functions , even if it's not your types original preference, while in Ennagram you just choose one "randomly") Thus I see Ennagram at the moment as only a tool that might just indicate that you chose the wrong MBTI type. As they correlate to certain aspects that MBTI already has categorized. If I managed to explain this clearly enough. Which is the point I made after the INFJ and Fi, it's same what you said. That some of the functions can be stronger, for example the 6th function in a specific one INFJ person. But MBTI puts more breaks on this, keeping it within still a realistic boundaries of this type. -While if you add an Ennagram to your type, it often invites contradiction, in some specific cases. So basically I don't think Ennagram is wrong in it self, just that it's not really complete as a system, and shouldn't be combined with MBTI in most cases. It's like taking only some parts of MBTI, and putting them into 9 types in random order. And then re-combining that back with MBTI as I see often, to complicate things.

@@Bobby_101 Yeah a lot of your points I very much agree with. What turned MBTI from "mildly interesting" to "life changing perspective shift" was mostly the logical consistency and symmetry within the system, with each of the 8 functions being distinct from each other yet all interconnected. It does sometimes feel weird when type and enneagram seem to clash and it can feel like MBTI is a better system, though I suppose it must probably come down to personal preference as to which system is more useful for a specific individual.
@Bobby_101
@Bobby_101 8 ай бұрын
@@thatmbtiguy Exactly, I expanded on the gift of cognitive functions as well, figured out a number additional things even not talked about online, as they are that useful as metrics. The more you work with them, the more you realize they explain truly a lot. I would personally say definitely MBTI is better, if anything for the average person, just because it offers more variety and specificity. But yeah someone might decide they like a different or not as fleshed out system, on grounds of usefulness and also simplicity. Which doesn't have to correlate to accuracy.

What exactly is the substance of a type 6? I'm an INFJ and am having trouble figuring out exactly what being a type 6 means if not a lack of something. All the explanations water down to the "need for security" and whatnot.. but what does a healthy type 6 look like? I can't imagine that a healthy type looks constantly anxious and mistrusting of the people around them. I trust that others have the best intentions most of the time, and forgive quite easily. I worry over finances and the future but so does everyone else, so what really distinguishes type 6??? I say all of this but I can't bring myself to trust a single website, forum, or my own research and feelings on the subject, so maybe I really am just the stereotype haha

My cursory understanding of enneagram is that it’s easy to see yourself identifying with several different types, plus we might want to be a type we may not be (applies to MBTI also). It also seems more of a choice. Is enneagram as fixed as MBTI?

Hi Ren, i highly disagree. I think there is a distinct difference between your core desire driven by wanting security and wanting to be surrounded by comfort alone vs. desiring comfort and security but driven by entirely something else. Someome can be commanding like type 8 as their core, but still hugely desire security. INFJs will desire security given their highly sensitive nature, esp when they were young, but i highly doubt they are driven by wanting security as their cognitive functions stack don't align with it and as you've mentioned, their calling is to do something in the world.
