No, I believe the average person has been conditioned for years by Taylors team to believe that songwriting is a rare gift in an effort to forgo her otherwise mediocre performing and singing talent. Let's be honest, writing some phrases down on paper is the easiest part of the entire process as proven by the fact that literally everyone in music is now doing it. More long term artists than not have engaged in writing their own songs, rather than hiring someone to do it for them for every single song. Taylor has taught her naive following to dramatically overvalue the concept of writing words and phrases. Theres a reason that all these NOVICE teenagers entering the music industry (Tate McCrae, Sabrina Carpenter, Dua Lipa, Lana del ray, Billie Eilish, etc) are able to write songs right off the bat before they develop literally any other skill that makes them a good performer - including singing. It is a learned skill that most people would be able to manage - especially if their livelihood depended on it.

Finally on eternal sunshine Ariana herself started promoting herself as this song writer. I think it’s important to think about WHY Swift fans are so protective of her and attack when people question her talent or credibility. It’s because she dealt with *genuine* misogyny and targeted attacks for many years into her career. Before that, she was scoffed at, scorned, mocked, called a liar, and told that her co-writers carried her. She’s very detailed and her perception to write music has been there since she was a young teen. She was born with her voice. Now she just finished Wicked and she took voice lessons. She takes her song writing very serious. She loves to claberating with other artist. Whitney Houston is her idol but takes after Audrey Hepburn she loves her so much. Both Taylor and Ariana write their songs, but I guess the difference is that Taylor’s lyrics are absolutely beautiful, they’re basically poems, or at least most of them. Ariana’s songs are not so “complex”; I listen to her since ages so far but unfortunately I’ve never found her way of writing particularly mature or deep, I don’t know if you’re getting me but that’s ok. So I think that this is the reason why Taylor’s skill of writing is always under the spotlight, but not Ariana’s. She’s unbeatable as a singer tho.

As a person whose read the best of poetry, there is nothing poetic to me about Taylor's songs. They come across as fake deep, and trying hard to seem like a poet. Someone whose songwriting feels more like poetry to me would be Lana Del Rey. She's ten times the songwriter Taylor is, and that's not even a question. Ariana has a different writing style that doesn't necessarily resemble poetry, but it's real and personal, and authentic. She writes like she's writing in her own journal.

People love to diminish Taylor's songwriting skill and yet they didn't even deep dive into her music discography to come up with such conclusion. I'm a huge fan of Lana Del Rey too & i do believe that she is a great songwriter. However, i do find that she's not as perfect of a songwriter that some regard her to be which is completely fine as quality cohesion isn't something that is easily sustained, unless if you're like Fiona Apple or Joni Mitchell. Whether an artist writes their songs or doesn't write their songs, and if that's important, depends on what you want from an artist. Its personally important to me to be able to dive in to an artists music personally. I feel like i can relate better when i am hearing their story from them. On the opposite side of things, however, someone might not necessarily care about that and only want the music side of things. Either way is totally fine. One person's preference or opinion doesn't negate another's. It is art, it will always be subjective. Lets stop pitting others(especially women) against each other. Besides! I think this song writing has become a thing because of the taylor. No one even used to mention this back in the days. Like do i give a fuck if whitney didn't write I have nothing no because if you can sing like that no one would gaf. And most of this is because of stan twitter nothing else. Songwriting became a thing because of Taylor? See that's the issue with a lot of her fans, is they act like the woman invented songwriting. People were writing their own songs, and getting recognition for it long before she was born. Unless you were born yesterday, how is that not something you don't already know? Mariah had one of the greatest voices in music history, but she is also considered as one the greatest songwriters, same thing with Stevie Wonder. There are plenty of artists with great voices who have also been praised for their writing. Not everything comes down to Taylor, simply because she's having such a huge moment in pop. Songwriting has always been something people pride themselves on. Hip-hop/rap, is one of the main genres where you are basically required to write your own songs, in order to get respect from your peers who are also in that genre. Ariana has always spoken up about her songwriting, it's just that she is only just now being recognized for it.
