Loving you reactions to this Band. And you have hit the nail on the head - and very =quickly! They were masters of their craft, and their standards were very high, and they maintained them for decades. So much so that they could perform complex pieces like !Awaken" and "Close to the Edge" live and flawless, and without the sheet music that the classical composers and orchestras needed for their performances. You're doing a good job of keeping this music alive!

I’ve seen this performed live approximately eight times. When the heavy bass pedals and Organ chords go through your chest, you feel the song as well as hear it. Always a very spiritual experience.

I saw Jon Anderson perform this with the Band Geeks 3 months ago and he still sounds great at 79 years old. The Geeks were a great find for him, they handle the Yes epics incredibly well. I was so happy to see him do these songs that have been part of my life for almost fifty years one more time.

If you want to hear the best, from the best...the "Close to the Edge" album, from start to finish (Close to the Edge, And You and I and Siberian Khatru), is timeless genius!

My first time seeing them was in 1976 and the next 6 times over the years was just as wonderful. ( This is how good they are, ) one time I went to a show and it was so good I traveled out of state to their next show a day or two later. And I'd do it again! When I think of YES this is the lineup that comes to mind The best of the best!! Thank you for sharing your journey and I appreciate your work 👍✌️

I just saw Jon Anderson perform this song a couple months ago, and his voice is still 95% as good 20 years later- super impressive not only for his age but still one of the great singers alive that I've heard.

Brought back memories. My first time ever seeing them was a year before this album came out. Needless to say, I went out and bought their entire catalog. Of course, there were many other good bands in the 70s, but them, Zeppelin, and Pink Floyd just dominated.

fun fact - Steve Howe is playing a 12 string during the first part of the song. That blistering solo and all is played on a 12 string.

If this performance can be bettered then be the judge of 'Awaken' performed by Todmobile, the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, full choir and Jon Anderson.

Absolutely. This is wonderful, but after hearing the Anderson/Todmobile performance, I have to say it packs a lot more emotional punch. The orchestration was excellent, all the musicians and singers amazing, editing of the video shows the masters at work. It truly soars. I respect what these 5 people can do in the studio and live. Have seen them only twice live 😢, both times fantastic. Every Awaken fan should check out the Todmobile video.

This clip I think is from a different concert than Symphonic , because Rick was absent . Not sure but this could be Montreux jazz festival

If this isn't perfection what is? Performed exactly like the studio version. Not easy for complex music like theirs. Time to do "The gates of Delirium". Studio only.

This is the "Live at Montreaux" tour, not the Symphonic live tour, that one had an orchestra, and Tom Brislin on keyboards. Saying that, it was an excellent performance, and to be honest, I thought the song should of ended at 18:40, as the last section was somewhat anticlimactic.

There is another very interesting live version of this song from 2018 (Anderson is 74 years old). However, it is "Yes-ARW" (Anderson, Wakeman, Rabin), not the "original Yes" of the time. They have toured with songs by Yes along with Lee Pomeroy (bass) and Lou Molino III (drums). Own songs were originally planned, but unfortunately it didn't come to that. Under "Yes live at the Apollo" you can find the complete concert on KZbin. Here is the link to "Awaken": kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4bFenyoicZnrtk Have fun.
