Never gave them much thought since they were before my time, but I was visiting a podunk town I once lived in and was invited to go to see them. It was a small bar with maybe 10 tables & no dance area & BOC must have been in their 60s at the time. I was blown away. The energy and skill they showed treating ~40 of us in the audience as though we were a full crowd at Madison square garden...Eternal props.

This is the theme song to the 4 part mini series adapted from Stephen King's "The Stand". It's about a "virus" that gets loose from a military base & kills the majority of the world's population & the "adventures" of varied Americans that survived. It was the first King novel i ever read & still my favorite. When i read it the first time in the 70's i found the subject matter somewhat disturbing but now it seems like it was prophetic. This gets a little play in the original 1978 film Halloween with Jamie Lee Curtis. Great song

I think I first heard this in the mid 80's and I had to run out and buy this album!! Of course the SHAZAM APP didn't exist back then (lol), I spent days asking people and calling Radio DJ's to find out who did this song. I was hooked the first time hearing Don't Fear the Reaper!! I Love this Song!!! Oh and as others have said, it's the appropriate song for Stephen King's "The Stand"!!

"Veteran of the Psychic Wars" is another amazing song of theirs that sometimes gets overlooked.

'Burnin' For You' next is a better pick than Godzilla, IMHO. On par with this awesome song. This song got an interesting take on Saturday Night Live when Will Ferrell and Jimmie Fallon and the SNL cast pretend to be BOC (the band) for a skit. Christopher Walken is the producer coming out of the booth saying "I got a fever, and the only cure is more cowbell" check that out as well. It's quite famous. Cheers.

I haven't heard it for years but just reading 'Burnin' For You' and the tune was straight back in my head. Another BOC subtle classic.

Godzilla is a banger as well, every reactor loves it. I'd rather Hot Rails to Hell than anything else, that is a jolt of electricity.

No it's not, its just there only other big radio hit. Great song but there 80's crossover. Godzilla & Cities on Flame 🔥 are essential before Burning For You.

But why did they name the producer “Bruce Dickinson”, when Bruce Dickinson is the singer for Iron Maiden?

This is a great start for the BOC adventure. They would occasionally do small clubs in New York under the name of Soft White Underbelly. If you knew, you knew, and you went to see them

Sam nailed the meaning. The song is about the acceptance of death, *not* about seeking it out, as some believe. The song's writer, band member Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser, had recently been diagnosed with a heart condition, so his own mortality was on his mind at the time. (He's still with us, fortunately.)

Thank you for finally reacting to BOC (Soft White Underbelly) their name when they would play at small club venues at the height of their popularity. Of course, I recommend all the songs that other people have suggested in this segment, but my absolute favorite is "I Love the Night" I think it really represents them. You will not me disappointed.

Classic! Lots of ways to think about this and that is the beauty of it. This song was so engaging to so many people that were inyo so many different genres of music. This was their biggest hit but Godzilla is really amazing.

@@seanfetterly3059 Yeah, I love the SNL skit they did, but I do wish i could listen to this song without thinking about that skit. I'm forever ruined by watching that skit.

If that is your first time hearing BOC, then you just barely cracked the door open. much more to explore. One of my top five bands of all time... I recommend E.T.I., Godzilla, Death Valley Nights, almost anything off of Fire of Unknown Origin album, Take me Away.

Brilliant song, my brother had this at his funeral 😢 PLEASE PLEASE Play some Older Genesis, you have played 2 of the worst songs you could have picked so far. Firth of the Fifth, Mama, Supper's Ready, Cinema show, there are hundreds. Peter Gabriel was the singer up until 1974, then Phil Collins became the singer with so many outstanding songs too. But start with Firth of Fifth 1973 off selling England by the pound you will love it I am sure. Keep up the great work, I listened to your channel for 4hrs the other day on a long journey, so good presentation, just love you guys. 💙❤️🎸

I find this song oddly comforting, along with being a good Halloween song and not many songs can say that. My favorite Twilight Zone episode Nothing in the Dark has the same theme so no wonder I like this song.
